Showing the cold menace of a vintage and ruthless “Iron” Mike Tyson, Ronda Rousey mauled Bethe Correia in her Brazilian backyard last night while wasting no time to do her ugly.
Fans stayed up late all over TV land to witness a ringwalk almost as electrifying as the one Tyson used to produce in his 80’s heyday. There’s an unmistakable aura about Rousey as she comes to ply her trade, and make no mistake about it (in very urban ghetto terms)– she’s out to beat a bitch’s ass.
Already inspired by the death of WWE legend “Rowdy” Roddy Piper (RIP dawg), this usually happens when you make derisive statements about someone’s father, notably, a reference to Rousey’s father’s suicide, as Correia did. Its just a theory, but that may have had something to do with the massive, Tyson-esque overhand right that sent Correia crashing in the Octagon in front of what was her fans.
By the end of what turned out to be a non-competitive blowout in front of what was Correia’s partisan crowd, Rousey had the Brazilian crowd and Correia’s soul in her pocket. The same Correia, who in addition to her unsavory loose lips about family, encouraged Rousey in very bold fashion at the final presser ‘don’t cry after I beat you’, on the heels of trashing Rousey and her family. When asked if she had gone too far, Correia insisted she was for real, vowing to bring the ultimate fight to Rousey.
“I’m a monster when I get into the cage,” Correia said. “I have a fighter’s heart. I have no fear about my country being embarrassed or me not putting up a good fight. I’m confident it’s going to be a great fight and that the belt will stay in Brazil.”
Uh-huh.
0:34 seconds after getting her ass beat, Rousey, in ruthless fashion, sauntered over to a balling Correia in need of a box of Kleenex, and dead-panned straight in her face: “Don’t cry”.
The question now becomes, who does she make cry next? So dominant has Rousey (12-0, 12KO) been, that the only viable challenge on the horizon appears to be Miesha Tate as a co-headliner on the upcoming Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor score settling card. Since she’s already beaten Tate twice – while brutally breaking her arm in the process – it is unlikely that Tate will (or even can) do anything to derail the Rousey express.
We’ve seen looker Gina Carano make her mark to stardom in Women’s MMA, along with the monstrous nature of Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, who assumed the mantle after destroying her. Only Justino has a remote chance to stop the reigning UFC bantamweight champion and best female MMA badass of all-time. When asked about Cyborg, as she is after every fight, Rousey’s response was simple: be available and clean. “If she drops steroids and makes weight I’ll fight her tomorrow,” bottom-lined Rousey.
We’ll take that fight yesterday.
