International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight champion Muhammad Rachman of Indonesia knows just what he’s up to when he faces Filipino challenger on June 16 in Jakarta, but remains confident he is the more complete fighter and will eventually knock out his young foe in their 12-round showdown.
The Rachman-Condes mandatory fight has been sanctioned by the New Jersey-based IBF and is one of the higly-anticipated bouts in the lower weight division.
No less than IBF Championship Chairman Lindsey Tucker of the United States will be at ringside to supervise the bout.
Martinez Dos Santos, who manages the 35-year-old Rachman, has informed in an interview yesterday that his ward has been working very hard under the watchful eyes of trainer Terry Joe in a beach and mountain in Blitar, Jawa Timur.
Dos Santos, who is currently in Miami, Florida attending the IBF’s annual convention, also indicated that Rachman has already logged more than 100 rounds of sparring, saying, ‘He wants to win by KO.’
Dos Santos, however, concedes that Condes is still the stronger fighter, but countered that Rachman has ‘many strategies and tactics to beat Condes.’
Rachman (61-5-5, 31 KO’s), nicknamed ‘Rock Breaker,’ last saw action December last year, defeating another Filipino challenger Benjie Sorolla via seventh-round TKO in Jakarta.
Condes (21-3-1, 20 KO’s) who is oftentimes referred to as the ‘smaller version of Manny Pacquiao,’ is currently training in Manila and has vowed to take the title to the Philippines after he takes care of Rachman.
