ritish boxing legend Ricky Hatton has been living it up in Marbella – the former champion was spotted sporting a large beer belly while drinking champagne and smoking at a pool party.
Photographed in Puerto Banus, near Marbella, Spain, the 36-year-old swigged champagne and smoked cigarettes while wearing a towel draped around his neck.
The boxer’s battles with booze, depression and weight have been well documented and during his fighting career he used to binge and then crash diet between bouts.
Remarkably, he used to shed five stones during a seven-week training camp before his world title battles.
Hatton also appeared to have cuts on his shoulder. A source told The Sun he ‘looked more overweight than normal’.
Hatton is renowned for struggles with weight and a fondness for alcohol and drugs.
He once said: ‘I know that the drink and everything else was killing me.
‘The depression which followed not only that defeat by Pacquiao but all the bingeing took me to the brink of suicide. That won?t happen again.’
The former world champion appears to have taken a decent holiday – only nine days ago was he photographed dancing in Marbella with a drink in his hand.
Last month also marked 10 years since arguably his biggest win against Kostya Tszyu in 2005 – a fight in which he knocked out his opponent before a huge home crowd in Manchester.
