LAS VEGAS – Manny Pacquiao said late Saturday night that he dealt with a right shoulder injury during training and it impacted his fight against Floyd Mayweather.
Pacquiao said an MRI showed he had a tear in his shoulder, something that was not mentioned to the media until after his loss.
“I don’t want to make alibis,” he said.
Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach, said a request for a postponement briefly was considered but he did not feel it was needed because of the progress Pacquiao had made.
Mayweather said he also had injuries during training but did not let them bother him.
“I will always find a way to win,” Mayweather said.
Mayweather also said that, had he lost, he would not have used his injuries as an excuse and would have paid respect to Pacquiao.
