Floyd Mayweather, Jr. will need to evade Manny Pacquiao’s heavy barrage of punching power. Here are three keys to Floyd improving his record to 48-0: 1Use his legs to create distance between himself and Pacman. Floyd will need to do some running in this fight to (a) prevent Pacquiao from scoring points in the scorecard through punch volume and aggression, (2) avoid getting hit by a lucky punch. 2Punch with timely counters with the right hand to make a charging Pacquiao pay dearly for moving forward and attacking Floyd. Mayweather’s counters with the right hand is perhaps the biggest key to determining who will win on May 2nd. Floyd’s right counter will also set up his underestimated left hook. If Manny charges too aggressively, he’ll be vulnerable to Floyd’s check left hooks. 3Keep the fight in the middle of the ring. That’s where Mayweather will enjoy the most real estate to dissect his Filipino opponent. Pacquiao will be most dangerous when Floyd is near the ropes and corner.
To win this fight, Floyd must be a skilled matador who uses perfect movement against a powerful bull in Pacquiao.
