LAS VEGAS ? From the way Floyd Mayweather Sr. sees it, Manny Pacquiao will be in for a fight on Saturday.
The rhyme-spewing trainer believes his son and top pound-for-pound fighter today Floyd Jr. will deviate from his usual defensive-oriented approach and instead will ?go forward? against Pacquiao.
?I?m gonna say this right here, I believe that my son, my belief is that he might go forward more this time and I think he?ll back Pacquiao,? said Floyd Sr., who was in a good mood to talk to a few reporters after the megafight?s press conference on Wednesday at KA Theatre inside the MGM Grand here.
BACKSTORY: Pacquiao, Mayweather ready to make history
?He might move around for a minute, a round or two. But I don?t think Floyd?s going backward for too long,? added the former welterweight contender during his heyday.
The 62-year-old, who will be the five-division world champion?s head trainer for the long-awaited showdown, also puts Pacquiao in the same category as his son?s previous opponents.
?It?s just a fight. He?s just an opponent, nothing more, nothing less.?
Pacquiao, the sport?s only eight-division champion, is considered by many as someone poised to taint Mayweather?s spotless record.
But Floyd Sr. doesn?t appear to be worried at all.
?Let me tell you something, all that power and stuff that guy?s talking about that he got, you won?t see none of that stuff,? he said of Pacquiao.
?It?s going to be a stoppage and I think you know it?s not going to be Floyd [who will be stopped].?
