LIKE A mother consoling a heart-broken son, President Arroyo listened with utmost concern to the lamentations of Manny Pacquiao who told the Chief Executive how he was cheated and robbed of victory during his bloody 12-round brawl with Juan Manuel Marquez.
Probably holding his hand and gently patting the part that was swollen from repeatedly hitting the stone-like surface of Marquez’s face, the president urged him not to lose hope. She told him to pursue his protest with vigor. (And probably added, in a whisper: “Don’t scrimp on socks.”)
“You are a champion and we believe in your second championship and we believe and pray that you win your protest,” the President said.
