Manny Pacquiao has stepped up his preparations for the match being billed as ‘fight of the century’ with Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The 36-year-old posted an intense training video of himself on his official Instagram account, sending a clear signal of intent to his rival.
Pacquiao and Mayweather’s bout, after years in the making, will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 2 and is expected to gross over $400million.
Mayweather, whose professional record stands at 47 matches undefeated with 26 of those wins by KO, will come up against Pacquiao’s 57 victories, 5 draws and 2 defeats.
The winner of the fight will receive a newly created belt by the WBC that has thousands of emeralds in place of the gold plating for the centre logo.
While by most boxing fans, this match is thought of as era-defining, Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr, does not share that view.
‘This era is closed. It’s done. Pacquiao is done. He needs to be locked up in jail because it’s time to save his a**. Pacquiao needs to lock himself up,’ he told the Sunday Telegraph.
‘He is not on Floyd’s level. All he is, is an opponent. That’s all he is. Nothing more, nothing less.’
