Tickets to the long-awaited Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Manny Pacquiao fight finally went on sale at 3 p.m. Thursday.
By 3:01, the roughly 500 tickets made available to the public were sold out. Even if you were willing to shell out between $1,500 and $7,500 per ticket, you would’ve needed extremely fast fingers and a lot of luck to do so.
The highest-priced tickets, with a face value of $10,000, were not made available for public purchase. Most tickets for the highly anticipated, pay-per-view fight at 16,000-seat MGM Grand Garden Arena were reserved for the fighters, their camps, HBO, Showtime and MGM Grand.
Shortly after the sellout was declared, a pair of tickets for one of the biggest fights in boxing history was made available on StubHub for $141,575.25 apiece. Thirty-five sellers on StubHub were asking between $10,000 and $100,000 apiece for tickets to the fight as of Thursday night.
Closed-circuit tickets to watch at all 12 MGM Resorts International properties in Las Vegas also went on sale Thursday. Approximately 40,000 closed-circuit tickets were made available at $150 apiece, and weren’t sold out at some locations.
