So you?re not going to watch the fight? I mean you have to admit that it is the most intriguing boxing match-up so far this year. Yeah it is a garbage PPV, but what can you do? ? Anonymous
THE WATCHDOG?S RESPONSE: What can you do? You can tell the promoters to go to hell, not purchase this PPV and catch the replay on HBO next week. That?s what you can do. If nobody bought this PPV it would send a very clear message to the boxing promoters of the world that they need to do better than this!
The reason many fans (me in particular) pay the high PPV fees is not because we have money to burn, but because many of us enjoy inviting family and friends over to the house and break out the BBQ grill or order some pizzas and enjoy each others company over beer and a good fight (good fight may or may not be debatable). You criticizing the public for paying those fees is very irresponsible and shows your detachment from the majority of the public. I’m not saying those fees are not high, they are, but you have to take into account the state of the economy, meaning prices for everything are high and they’re not going to get any cheaper. ? Pedro
THE WATCHDOG?S RESPONSE: They are certainly not going to get any cheaper with attitudes like yours! You are a boxing promoter?s dream my friend. Yeah, keep making excuses for them as they fleece you. Poor promoters. They?re just doing what they have to do to feed their families right? How dare I suggest they actually give us a little bang for the buck. I guess everyone should just bend over for the promoters and then tell them ?Thank You?. It would be great if everyone had 55 people to invite over and they could all chip in a buck. But what about the poor schmucks of the world who don?t know people who are interested enough in boxing to dish out that kind of cash? What about the people who can?t throw a BBQ for every Pay-Per-Screw? What about the people who actually want to see more than ONE fight when they fork over half of this week?s grocery money?
