Floyd Mayweather Sr has once again resurrected the infamous claim that the onky reason eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao hasn?t scored a knockout since November 2009 is that he isn?t juiced up any longer. He almost went to jail for his allegations in the past and only a compromise with Pacquiao let him off the hook. Mayweather?s rants about Pacquiao?s sudden loss of punching power is certainly not accurate because for one, he dropped WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri no less than six times in his last fight. He also earlier dropped Shane Mosley who, in contrast, almost dropped Floyd Mayweather jr when they met but couldn?t finish him off neither could he stop Juan Manuel Marquez despite dropping him early in their fight in which Mayweather paid a fine of $600,000 for coming over the stipulated weight which gave him an undue advantage. The last recorded knockout by Mayweather was on September 17, 2011 when he took a universally condemned ?cheap shot? when Victor Ortiz moved forward to apologize to Floyd for a deliberate head-butt when referee Joe Cortez was looking elsewhere.
If you don?t count the ?cheap shot? knockout then Mayweather?s last kmnockout was on December 8, 2007 when he scored a 10th round TKO over Ricky ?The Hitman? Hatton who, at that time was the Ring light welterweight champion and moved up to fight Mayweather at welterweight, then the lack of a knockout by Mayweather is more far more pronounced. Its five years and five months since the Cotto stoppage by Pacquiao but its been 7 years and 5 months since Mayweather knocked out Hatton. Pacquiao, on the other hand, annihilated Hatton in two rounds on May 2, 2009 going down to light welterweight instead of asking Hatton to move up from his regular 140 pound limit to 147 as Mayweather did. Its also worth remembering that Cotto gave Mayweather a hard time and so did Marcus Maidana in their first fight. Mayweather Sr continues to bark the same old tune. Little does he realize the facts are against him and tell a different story and as Lee Cleveland of Fight Saga points out Pacquiao?s no knockouts is deceiving.
