It’s no surprise that Leonard Ellerbe is picking Floyd Mayweather Jr. to win on May 2.
What might be a shock, however, is how the Mayweather Promotions CEO suggests it’ll end.
“I know for a fact that he’ll be able to come out and dictate the pace,” he said. “[Manny Pacquiao] makes a lot of mistakes, and Floyd will be able to exploit those mistakes from the opening bell. We might see a knockout in this fight. If Floyd sees the opportunity, I know for a fact that he’ll finish it off.”
Ellerbe’s comments came amid the hoopla of Mayweather’s open workout in Las Vegas, which will be followed on Wednesday by Pacquiao’s workout at Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Boxing Club in Los Angeles.
Several hundred media members attended the Tuesday workout, just more than a month after 600 credentials were distributed for the official press conference in Los Angeles on March 11.
“We’ve promoted the biggest fights and Floyd has been in the biggest fights, so it’s business as usual for us,” Ellerbe said. “We’re used to seeing all this hoopla. It’s another day at the office for us. Floyd always trains the same for every opponent. He’s the best conditioned athlete in all of sports.”
