A totally aggressive-minded trainer Freddie Roach has picked up the rhetoric and told eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao: ?Break him (Floyd Mayweather Jr) down early and knock him out in the later rounds.? Roach, the seven-time winner of the ?Trainer of the Year? award by the Boxing Writers Association of America revealed his strategy for the mega-buck fight against undefeated pound for pound king in an interview on ?On The Ropes Boxing Radio.? It certainly looks like a tough ask as Roach himself admitted ?I know he (Floyd) is going tom start quick and we are going to start quick also? and as a result Roach expects boxing fans to demand a rematch even though there is noi rematch clause in the contract for the May 2 showdown. Roach?s confidence appeared to be boosted by his feeling that ?Floyd?s legs are nearly gone.? However, a short video feed by Mayweather yesterday morning showed strength and conditioning coach Alex Ariza watching on while Mayweather did some swimming in a pool and showed no signs that his legs were shot,
It was the same swimming workout Ariza wanted Pacquiao to do as part of his strength and conditioning regimen which Manny refused to do. Roach spelled out his strategy in straightforward terms: ?jump on him early and break him down and then knock him out in the later rounds.? He said ?I believe Manny will knock him out.?
