A report from the Philippine-based media outlet, GMANetwork quotes boxer Manny Pacquiao saying that he has indeed started training and that the fight with Floyd Mayweather is a go. He said that the deal “has been hammered out” and will soon be announced.

Last week Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank said when the deal was done Mayweather would be the one to tell the world. Arum also said, back on Feb. 6, the contract was almost finished then. There’s been widespread speculation that Mayweather will be making that announcement at the NBA all-star game in New York on Sunday. Given the boxing world’s, and Mayweather’s, propensity toward hype could Mayweather actually sign during the halftime show at the game? In front of millions of sport fans? It surely would provide an boost to the fight and help fans forgive and forget the endless reports of talks going well and then not going well. It’s been a long ride.
