I WAS one of those who celebrated over the victory of Manny Pacquiao over Mexican boxer Jorge Solis. The more I watched Manny during the telecast, the more I was convinced that he should stick to boxing and forget about his congressional bid.
Had he decided to run for any executive possession, nothing negative would have been heard from me. But legislative? No. Leave it to the experts or at least with the appropriate backgrounds.
The desire to help others, especially the marginalized and the impoverished, does not give us the passport to invade unfamiliar territories.

Last Holy Tuesday, the husband and wife team of Carlo Caparas and Donna Villa met some members of the Cebu Press at Caf? Adriatico at the Crossroads to drum up interest on a project that?s so close to the couple?s heart: the Komiks Karavan.
Supported by the Nat?l. Commission for Culture and the Arts, the Dept. of Education and the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino, the caravan is a free seminar on comics writing and illustration.
The kick-off session was in Bulacan with close to one thousand participants. On Tue., Apr. 24, the Cebu leg will be held at the old session hall of the Cebu Capitol. Carlo, who started as a comics writer before branching out to movie and TV direction and other endeavors, and Donna, whose first three projects as movie producers that turned to be blockbusters were comics materials, wish to revive interest on comics especially now that most television serials are culled from comics.
With this project, they aim to help talented individuals follow their footsteps with comics as the stepping stone. For this, the couple has set aside prizes (P40, P30 and P20 thousand) for the best submitted materials.
Those planning to join are enjoined to already organize their storyline before the seminar begins. To all of you, good luck!

In the press presentation that included a mini-fashion show held at the Elizabeth Mall activity area over the weekend, the contestants (20 out of 28) gave the audience a glimpse of what they?ll have to offer come pageant night.
Except for a handful, most of the contestants are fresh faces, but with personalities that warrant a second, lingering look. Slated at BBQ.Com in Mabolo, this city.

I heaved a sigh of relief when Cebuana PBB Housemate Dionne Monsanto was saved from eviction last Sat. Having followed the teleserye ng totoong buhay since it opened (not religiously though), I believed Dionne is just misunderstood and her actuations misinterpreted.
She has the qualities of a winner, if you ask me. Hopefully, she?ll stay in the show longer than expected.
