Pacman, Negros Occ’s Ledesma retain worst House attendance record; 65 have perfect attendance

MANILA, Philippines — Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who represents Sarangani, and Jules Ledesma IV of Negros Occidental’s first district held on to their worst attendance records in the House of Representatives, tying for only seven session days attended last year.

Official House records show that, of the 290-member chamber, only 65 lawmakers, or 22 percent, registered a perfect attendance.

While the House had a total of 70 session days from January 20 to December 17, 2014, the roll was called only on 34 session days and dispensed in the remaining 36, ?and the members were recorded as in attendance,? the chamber?s website said.

Thus, the records released by the Office of the Secretary General reflect only the days when the roll was called.

Former President Gllria Macapagal-Arroyo, who is now in her second term as representative of Pampanga?s second district, has been detained at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center since November 2012, while Lanao del Norte Representative Abdullah Dimaporo has been under hospital arrest since 2013.

On the other hand, Abang Lingkod party-list Representative Joseph Paduano took his oath only in May 2014 and was thus able to attend only 15 session days.
