It’s been a long road. Literally, for years the boxing world has been hoping, praying, pleading for the BIG fight to come to fruition. There’s been a plethora of issues and reasons as to why the fight hasn’t happened. I’ve placed blame on both sides, because frankly, there’s blame enough for both sides. That said, as far as the here and now goes, it appears as if Floyd Mayweather is one that’s dodging the fight.
There’s been offers from an investment group out of the UAE that claim to have offered Floyd 120 million bucks. If true (and it appears that it is) that is a ridiculous amount of money. Floyd Mayweather is supposed to be the Money Team, no? What’s NOT money about 120 million dollars? Apparently the offer out of the UAE has now been pulled off of the table. If so, that’s Floyd’s fault. What’s there to think about with that kind of money on the table?
Pacquiao as been very vocal about wanting Floyd as of late. He’s not always been so forward. It used to be the same old song and dance when asked about Floyd, “It’s up to my promoter, I just come to fight.” Not these days though. Pacquiao is now taunting Floyd on Twitter, and he’s coming right out and saying, “I WANT FLOYD.”
Top Rank head Bob Arum is also now actively negotiating, trying to get the fight done. Floyd on the other hand has been almost silent as of late. Where are you at Floyd? It appears as if there’s nowhere else to go. What fight makes more sense now? There’s no fight out there for Floyd Mayweather that makes more sense and CENTS other than with Manny Pacquiao.
The boxing world has waited far too long for this fight. It’s becoming more clear that at least as of recent days, it’s Floyd that’s making matters difficult. I certainly don’t speak for Manny, but I’m guessing he would be okay with taking a smaller portion of the purse. That said, lets not get crazy Floyd. Don’t be ridiculously greedy.
If Floyd prices himself out of this fight, he’ll go down as the greatest fighter that COULD have been, and not the greatest fighter that ever lived. He’ll have a huge asterisk by his name for eternity. Step of Floyd. Your fans deserve it, the boxing world deserves it.
