British boxing champ Amir Khan seems to be holding out hope that he’ll get to be the man who fights champ Floyd Mayweather Jr.; If not Mayweather, Khan is looking to fight Manny Pacquiao and says he’ll find out one way or the other soon.

Khan told Skysports.com when talking about a potential fight with Mayweather. ?Hopefully, I can get one of them (Mayweather or Pacquiao). I don?t know how long they?ll be around.? Mayweather – Pacquiao more likely The rumblings in the fight world are that Khan won’t get either opponent, not in the first half of 2015, because Mayweather and Pacquiao will fight each other first. That is the boxing world’s most waited for fight right now, and may become one of the richest fights ever, if not the richest. The two sides are reportedly in negotiations. Given all that and the fact Mayweather has not spoken well of Khan of late, despite Khan’s Dec. 13 strong win over Devon Alexander, it seems unlikely Mayweather will come calling. Some of Mayweather’s criticism of the quick Khan include Khan not being a name in the fight game – he called him a “no name” – and his poor Pay Per View numbers. Furthermore, Mayweather’s father, Floyd Mayweather Sr., himself a retired boxer, has told media that he does not think Khan is much of an opponent. Of course that could work in Khan’s favor, as some say that Mayweather Jr. is picking his spots now as he nears retirement, trying to keep his unbeaten career record intact (47-0). Amir Khan may fight Kell Brook Khan, nor his trainer Virgil Hunter, have said what makes them think they are even in the running for a fight with Mayweather in the first half of 2015. Again, given that there are many strikes against Khan being Mayweather’s selection it seems unlikely Khan will get a Mayweather fight. It seems more likely that Mayweather, if he does not fight Pacquiao on May 2, as has been rumored to be the case, will fight someone along the lines of a Miguel Cotto or Saul ?Canelo? Alvarez. Meanwhile, Khan has said that if not Mayweather then Kell Brook could be the boxer he signs to fight next.
