How Juan Manuel Marquez survived three first-round knockdowns against Manny Pacquiao on Saturday in Las Vegas is still anyone’s guess.
But in the end what floored observers more than Marquez’s uncommon will was the three judges’ unfathomable review.
Guy Jutras of Montreal scored the bout 115-110 for Marquez. John Stewart of New Jersey also had it 115-110, but for Pacquiao.
Burt Clements of Reno, Nev., saw it 113-113. That meant the fight officially ended in a draw. But the debate was only beginning.
Did all three judges watch the same fight? If so, how could there be such a wide gap in the scoring?
