Amir Khan has rejected the idea that if he were defeated by both Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2015, he would walk away from boxing.
“I think I’d have to go on, because I feel better and stronger than I ever have at 28. More fighters out there would want to share the ring with me. I’d only retire if I felt I’d lost something, my speed for example.”
Khan also expressed his disappointment at former trainer Freddie Roach saying to the media that Pacquiao had often knocked him down in sparring when they were stable-mates in the Hollywood-based Wild Card Gym.
“The truth is that I’ve got the videos of that sparring [with Pacquiao] and I’ll put them on the internet one day. We used to have really good sparring sessions and they were really competitive.”
“He never could say he got the better of me or outclassed me in a spar, let alone knocked me down. I don’t know why Freddie chose to say that because he knows what happened. Why is he saying that? I don’t say anything about him but wish him all the best. When someone’s upset with you they do have a go at you.
“The truth is I’ve never been knocked down in sparring.”
