Manny Pacquiao could soon reclaim top pound-for-pound spot

Pacquiao has been one of the longest-reigning pound-for pound best fighters in the world until his 15-fight winning streak ended following his loss to Timothy Bradley in 2012. For over a decade Pacquiao reigned in Ring’s pound for pound rankings and another victory could put him back on top of the list of 10 best pound for pound fighters in the world. A win over Floyd Mayweather (if he says yes to Pacquiao’s challenge), could push him up to become a king for the second time in the Ring’s pound for pound list. But even if Mayweather decides not to accept his challenge, Pacquiao could still regain his old post in the list provided Mayweather is defeated in his next fight with another opponent. Pacquiao is now on his way to a fourth fight victory since losing to Timothy Bradley in 2012 while Mayweather is unbeaten in 47 pro fights. Despite two straight losses in the past nine years, Pacquiao has remained the longest-reigning fighter in the Ring Magazine’s list of pound for pound fighters with 572 weeks to his credit, besting current pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather, with 165 weeks.
