Marc Ratner, executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission has defended his decision not to entertain a protest from Team Pacquiao despite the public admission from judge Burt Clements that he made a mistake in scoring the first round 10-7 when he should have scored it 10-6 after Manny Pacquiao decked WBA/IBF champion Juan Manuel Marquez three times and the champion barely beat the count the third time.
Ratner said the controverial draw which has been widely criticized by several respected boxing writers in the US was “not a horrible decision” because the sport of boxing is “so subjective” and we will “always have differences of opinion.”
