NBA -- CP3's triple-double powers Clips past Jazz

SAN FRANCISCO -- Despite playing their fourth game in five nights, the Los Angeles Clippers had little trouble improving to 3-1 in the young season. Thanks to point guard Chris Paul.

Paul, CP3 to his peers, carved his first triple-double of the season --- 13 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds --- and the host Clippers beat the Utaz Jazz, 107-101, on Monday night at the Staples Center.

Paul's sidekick, power forward Blake Griffin, proved to be a tough cover for the Jazz. Griffin finished with 31 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while Jamal Crawford, who reached the 15,000-point plateau, added 19.

Gordon Hayward led Utah with 27 points. Enes Kanter finished with 17 and nine boards and Alex Burks added 16 for the Jazz, who committed 22 turnovers and trailed by as many as 15.

The Clips went to the free throw line only 17 times and sank 15 but they rained threes on Utah, skinking 10 of 23 from beyond the arc. (JSM)
