Chris Algieri is Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent, and the two boxers will face off next month in Macau. The current WBO Light Welterweight Champion recently visited the UFC offices in Vegas and he posted a photo from the trip. From his twitter account:
Chances are, the undefeated boxer stays within his current combat sport of choice, but making the switch to Mixed Martial Arts isn’t that farfetched for a guy like Algieri. He has backgrounds in various martial arts prior to his boxing career, and has routinely trained along side MMA fighters such as Constantinos Philippou and Dennis Bermudez through the years.
Algeiri has a black belt in Kenpo karate and started out as a professional kickboxer, where he won the ISKA Welterweight Title. Prior to that, he also had a wrestling background and was a team captain and then assistant coach for his high school team.
