Z-BOOM! Public Sparring Slated for Saturday PhilBoxing.com Tue, 06 Feb 2007 WBO No. 1 Super Flyweight contender Z ?The Dream? Gorres and WBO No. 1 Super Bantamweight contender Rey ?Boom-Boom? Bautista will show the public a taste of their ring prowess in a Public Boxing Preview on Feb 10 at the ALA Boxing Gym in the parking area of the Banilad Town Center here in Cebu City. Gorres will spar against reigning Philippine Bantamweight champion Michael ?Bruce Lee? Domingo of Sultan Kudarat and a trio of unbeaten rising ALA Boys AJ ?Bazooka? Banal of Cebu City, Joseph Omanz of Mandaue City, and Frank Albia of Bacolod City. Domingo (30-15-3, 14 KOs) is a 27-yr. old orthodox slugger from Libac, Sultan Kudarat who had fought 48 fights in a span of only seven years. He has been unscathed as a Philippine Bantamweight champion after he snatched the crown from Joel Bauya (15-7-3) of Manila on July 30, 2005. From then on, he remained invincible against four able fighters who tried to dethrone him in just a span of one year. Banal (11-0-1, 9 KOs) is a devastating southpaw who has never lost a fight since his debut on June 11, 2005. Apparently, the technical draw decision in his first professional fight disappointed him so much he has vowed never to lose again. On top of that he KO?d 9 of his 12 opponents; and knocked out three in the 2nd round. Omanz (4-0-0, KOs 2) is strong puncher whose KOs hit his opponents on the 1st round. He is a 16 yr. old bantamweight who has a bright future ahead of him. Albia (5-0-0, KOs 1) is another unbeaten fighter who has never lost a fight since his debut in March 2006. A native of Sepala, Negros Oriental, this 23-yr-old orthodox fighter has been learning to develop punishing hands, the last casualty of which was his latest opponent Romano Gelig whom he KO?d in the 1st round. To slug it out with Bautista are super bantamweight Danny ?Boy? Bontilao of Cebu City, featherweight Fernando ?Rikitik? Otik of Mandaue City, bantamweight Reman Salim of Negros Occidental, and Weng Haya of Bukidnon. Bontilao (10-4-0, KOs 2) is currently WBO No. 9 Asia Pacific Featherweight rated pugilist with a No. 7 rating in the PBF Featherweight division. He debuted against Markyll Taroja on Feb 28, 2004, and is under the stable of 2-time Elorde Awardee trainer Edito Villamor. His latest conquest was a KO of Joel de la Cruz in Naga, Cebu on October 3, 2006 in the 2nd round. Otik (5-4-1, KOs 2) is a young prizefighter who learned his lesson via a loss. He debuted on March 12, 2006 with a loss to Jimmy Siscon of Masbate who outpointed him. Salim (20-5-5, KOs 5) is the WBO No. 3 Asia Pacific rated banger with a No. 3 rank in the PBF. In his 2.5 years as a professional boxer, he has traveled to Indonesia, Korea, and Thailand to wage war with fellow Asians on the ring. In his last fight on Dec 18, 2006, he won over Rico Genon of Talisay City in the 6th round. Haya (5-0-0, KOs 2) is a 17-yr-old Bukidnon-born slugger who debuted on July 3, 2006 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. His first professional opponent, Tata Galendez, dropped on the 3rd round. In such a short start, he ably amassed two KOs in the 3rd round and has never lost in a fight. |
