JESSICA SANCHEZ VOTED OFF BY AMERICA THEN SAVED BY JUDGES By Rod Mijares PhilBoxing.com Fri, 13 Apr 2012  ?Whatever happens is in America?s hands,? American Idol contestant Phillip Phillips uttered in a prelude to the most dramatic and suspenseful episode of American Idol season 11 during the announcement of the results of voting as who will be booted off from the top 7 contestants. Ryan Seacrest started by calling Hollie Cavanagh and Jessica Sanchez to the center of the stage. Without declaring who was safe after the nation-wide vote, he requested Hollie to start a group at the right side of the stage and Jessica at the opposite end. With last night?s performance, one could conclude that Jessica was safe and Hollie was in danger. Comparing the two, Jimmy Iovine said they were both good technical singers. However, Jessica won the night because she sang effortlessly while Hollie was stiff, calculated, contrive, and just not in the right place. Then, Ryan asked Randy if he still stand by his comments and he replied 100%. Next, Ryan called Elise Testone and Phillip. Phillip joined Hollie and Elise joined Jessica. Colton and Joshua Ledet were called next. Jimmy Iovine said that he liked both of them based on last night?s performance. Joshua was asked to join Elise and Jessica and Colton joined Hollie and Phillips. The left group of Joshua, Elise and Jessica seemed to be safe as they were the best performers from the previous night. But wait. Sitting on the coach was Skylar Laine who was the odd-man-in. Mathematically speaking she was safe being the fourth contestant who would join either group. Suspense was that whatever group she would join would be safe automatically. Ryan teased Skylar to pick the group she thought she belong with but Skylar said ?No!..No!...No! declining with a humble laugh choosing instead to sit back on the coach. Seacrest then took Skylar in her arm and guided her behind and passed Hollie?s group to almost center of the stage before turning back to Hollie?s group who became safe as a result of Skylar joining them. Jimmy Iovine, in his opinion, the bottom 3 would be Hollie, Phillips and Elise but as the group were formed from the nation-wide vote, obviously he was mistaken. ?That should not be the bottom 3,? Jimmy said. Randy said, ?11 season doing the show, I have never seen this happened. This is a ridiculous bottom 3, America. I?ve never said this, they got it wrong tonight, baby. They got it so wrong.? Ryan told Steven Tyler that one of the contestants will be leaving the show tonight if you guys don?t use your save. Steven replied, ?We are going to use our card tonight. Especially, with an outcome like this.? Ryan, then, told Joshua that he was safe. Then, he announced that the person at risk of leaving tonight after a nation-wide vote is?. Jessica Sanchez. All were stunned, especially, the judges. There was booing and noise of disagreement among the audience present. ?Jessica Sanchez, unbelievable reaction in the studio. This is for the save?the judges will vote after you sing. Are you ready?,? Ryan asked Jessica which she replied simply yes. The mood was somber as Jessica was singing her last saving song. The choice of song was perfect. She sang it with feelings that no doubt viewers have tears on their faces. However, before Jessica could even finish the song, the American Idol judges stormed the stage and Jennifer grabbed the microphone from Jessica. ?Gimme that mic! This is crazy! Of course, we are using the save.! Jennifer Lopez uttered in disgust. ?Go sit down.? There was pandemonium. Ryan said,?hold on..let me break it down. Randy Jackson announced it officially, ?We are saving Jessica without any doubt. Let me just say this. For myself, Steven and Jennifer, this girl is one of the best singers in America. Then, he pleaded. ?Everybody, please vote for the best. It?s about voting for the best.? This is the same request made by Jimmy Iovine three weeks ago while commenting on Jessica that it?s about time (after 5 years) that a girl should win the American Idol.
