JESSICA SANCHEZ TAKES AMERICAN IDOL ON A RIDE By Rod Mijares PhilBoxing.com Thu, 12 Apr 2012  Jessica Sanchez did it again. Jessica whose mother is a Filipina and whose father is a Mexican did what she does best in the American Idol contest, sang beautifully and perfectly and captured America with her mellow, powerful and soothing voice. She is consistently performing amazingly week by week. She sang "Stuttering" by Jazmine Sullivan which she chose for the music of 2010 or beyond. Jimmy Iovine, American Idol?s permanent tutor, said he doesn?t really know that song that well. Jessica pointed out that not a lot of people is familiar with the artist. ?I am excited and at the same time nervous because of that.? For this week?s theme, the guest tutor is Akon whose real name is Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam, a Senegalese-American R&B recording artist, songwriter and record producer who was so impressed with Jessica?s voice. ?You?ve got so much control. For that age. I mean, it?s crazy.? Jimmy Iovine said of Jessica after her first practice rendition, ?That voice can move anybody. She has power, finesse. She is unbelievable with that voice.? The host, Ryan Seacrest, introduced Jessica as the youngest contestant from San Diego who feels the heat like everybody else at this time of a very tight competition. However, after her performance, I would rather say that Jessica made the heat herself as she set the bar really high as Randy Jackson, one of the American Idol judges commented. ?That was superb, like it was in the highest degree. You slay the biggest fish of the night. This song was the toughest one to sing.? Before Jessica sings, like the others, American Idol featured her hometown in San Diego, California including her families, relatives and friends and on how they support her quest for the American Idol title. ?I have like 20 million cousins and 20 adopted aunties and uncles and they always make Filipino foods and they all come together watching the show. I felt so blessed and have so much support back home. I felt so much love and have that comfort feeling even though I am here.? Steven Tyler said he forgot where he was every time he hears Jessica sing but America does not forget Jennifer Lopez said, ?That was really beautiful. My favorite part of it was right in the middle. You really started diggings. You started digging a little bit more. I am gonna tell a story I am gonna dig a little deeper and I feel like you have, probably, more than anybody an amazing opportunity to really take this audience, this American Idol audience and America on a ride like they never been. We have a few weeks left here and I think for me what I love to see from you is almost some Joshua type performances in how impactful they are because we know that you sing like nobody we have ever heard sing. That?s how I feel when I am listening to you, sometimes. It?s just amazing. But now take us on a ride. Every week. We have only few weeks left. You can do it.? News.Lalate.com reported that news analysts contend that Sanchez silenced her critics tonight with not just the best performance of the night but also certainly the best performance of the month.
