Chemito Moreno: "God willing, my first fight in 2012 will be against Nonito Donaire" By Carlos Costa PhilBoxing.com Mon, 20 Jun 2011 WBA Bantamweight super champion Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno of Panama made a successful 8th defense of his world crown via 8th round TKO over former world champion Lorenzo "Lencho" Parra in the early hours of Saturday at the Roberto Duran Arena in Panama City, Panama. "Chemito" Moreno (31-1, 11 KO's) who will celebrate his 26th birthday on June 28, was the most aggressive, faster and efficient fighter throughout the match, and had really no trouble dismantling the former world champion from Aragua, Venezuela. In contrast, Lorenzo Parra (31-3-1, 18 KO's) did not seem able to mount any meaningful attack that could put the WBA super champion Chemito in trouble. In the co-main event of the exciting card in Ciudad de Panama titled "Hora Cero", undefeated WBA middleweight world champion Gennady Golovkin (21-0, 18 KOs) of Kazakhstan, now living in Stuttgart, destroyed former IBF world champion Uganda's Kassim Ouma by TKO in round 10. WBA Referee Guillermo Perez Pineda of Panama correctly stopped the action to spare Ouma of unnecessary punishment at 1:25, declaring Golovkin a TKO winner. Right after "Chemito" Moreno's main event victory, which was broadcast live to Panama by TV Max, Russia and Ukraine, TV Max reporter Jorge Amaya interviewed Chemito Moreno for the live telecast. With the kind courtesy the boxing journalist and promoter Mr. Hector Villarreal of TV Max, here is the translation of the interesting "Chemito" Moreno's live ring interview: TV Max reporter: Fans, here we are with the super campeon mundial Anselmo "Chemito" Moreno. Good performance from you against an opponent (Lorenzo Parra) who did not offer you much resistance. How did you see your own fight tonight? Chemito Moreno: Well, actually, I thought that after all those things that he (Parra) said, I thought that he was really going to attack me tough and mix it up. But unfortunately, in reality he was not an opponent who really wanted to trade punches. Surprisingly, Parra backpedaled and ran away from action the whole night. So I must apologize to the fans who attended this event. Because he (Parra) did not want to make it tough on me. I wanted to make it exciting. Anyway, now it's over, let's focus for my ninth defense and hopefully it will be a thriller. TV Max reporter: Champ, you must feel at ease with yourself because you did your work. You did your best to entertain the fans. It was your opponent's way.... he (Parra) gave the excuse that his hands got hurt. That's what Lorenzo Parra told me. Anyway, was this an easy combat for you? Chemito Moreno: Well honestly this fight was easy. But you never know what could happen in a fight. That is why we boxers must prepare well by training hard. Most importantly, I must say thanks and send my warmest regards to the boxing fans and the people who put his trust on me believing that, as a champion, do things the right way. Finally, my warmest regards to all the people in my barangay El Martillo. Also to fans in San Juan de Dios, Bocas del Toro Province, Julio Ripe, my teammates at team 25 of the ACP (Authority of the Panama Canal), and to all boxing fans, my best wishes to all. TV Max reporter: Chemito, Chemito, wait, before you go... there is a fighter from the Philippines. You know who I am refering to, Nonito Donaire. It has been said that your title unification fight with Donaire might come some day. What does "Chemito" Moreno really want? Chemito Moreno: Well, all this time I have been wishing in my mind for three top opponents: The first opponent was former champion Lorenzo Parra whom I know is a very good fighter. Though unfortunately he did not put a good show against me tonight. The second one is a top fighter now being worked out and soon to be confirmed. And my third opponent, I hope will be Nonito Donaire, God willing. We might have to wait early next year for that fight. Let's hope that my first fight in the year 2012 will be my unification fight with Nonito Donaire. TV Max reporter: Campeon, gracias and good luck really. Chemito Moreno: Gracias to you and to all the fans who supported this boxing card named "Hora Cero" to all muchas gracias.
