APOLINARIO FACES PALICTE FOR WBO ORIENTAL TITLE
By Salven L. Lagumbay PhilBoxing.com Thu, 23 Sep 2010
Another explosive match-up takes place when John Mark Apolinario of Manila's Yraola Stable goes up against Vincent Palicte for the WBO Oriental superfly title on Sunday in Tanza, Cavite.
According to promoter Sammy Gello-ani, the bout is expected to give another memorable night of boxing, which has become the norm in every WBO-sanctioned bout in the country.
Apolinario (15-2, 3 KO's), is currently wrapping up training at the Yraola Gym, while Palicte (12-2, 5 KO's), a former WBC International campaigner, has indicated his readiness to win the beautiful WBO Oriental belt.
In the chief support, former world title challenger Daud Yordan (25-1, 19 KO's) of Indonesia takes on Filipino Christian Avila in a ten-round tiff at 127 pounds. Yordan, fighting out of the Bahari Gym in Bali, Indonesia, is hoping to get another world title opportunity sometime in the near future.
Froilan "Sniper" Saludar of the Top Contender Gym takes on Mike Romulo of Mones Stable in an 8-round, light-flyweight showdown.
The rest of the card pits: Dennis Tobieron versus Rey Leperanum; Jerwin "Pretty Boy" Ancajas versus Leo de Guia; Aljhon Pasaylo against John Rey; Carlo "Golden Boy" Suello versus Arjet Caballes; Adonis Cabalquinto against Jury Noda; and Edward Penerio versus TBA.
