Under the guidance of Australian boxing mentors Gary and Pat Connolly, 28-year-old Douglas Lee will face off against the formidable warrior Win Tun Oo of Myanmar in the third bout of the exhilarating 11-fight event dubbed "Rising Stars." The event is brought to life by prolific promoters Supanat Chanram and Brico Santig, directors of Highland Boxing Promotions. "Since childhood, my dream has been to become a professional boxer. At the Malaysian Embassy, Douglas, accompanied by promoter Brico Santig and Mrs. Must Muslyn, engaged with Malaysian officials, discussing his burgeoning pro boxing career and extending an invitation to the show. Reflecting on his journey, Douglas expressed his love for boxing, relishing every moment of being a pro boxer: "I was born in Shah Alam, a city and the state capital of Selangor in Malaysia. As a child, I relocated to a town in Australia where I was the only Asian kid. I endured severe bullying and had to fight to defend myself. "However, my life took a turn for the better when I met Pat and Gary Connolly, men of boxing, who gave me purpose. Now, I have a wife and a 2-year-old son. "So, yes, I love boxing for many reasons. "Since childhood, I've admired boxers from the 70s and 80s, particularly Muhammad Ali and 'The Four Kings,' Leonard, Hearns, Duran, and Hagler. I try to absorb as much as I can from their legacies. "Specifically, I admire Roberto Duran, who, despite being a lightweight, faced much larger opponents with heart and impeccable defense. I relate to him; I too was small, facing bigger adversaries." Douglas Lee's fight will unfold on Thursday, February 29, at SpacePlus Bangkok. Fans outside Thailand can catch the action live with English commentary on Highland Boxing's YouTube channel and Facebook page. |
