SPORTS FACTS AND FIGURES 43: KELL BROOK WANTS MANNY PACQUIAO EXHIBITION By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Mon, 12 Feb 2024 Former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook is interested to come out of retirement and engage in a smash exhibition bout with Manny Pacquiao. The 37-year-old Englishman world champion fighter is willing to put on his gloves again after retirement to fight Manny Pacquiao. * * * The former IBF welterweight champion retired from pro boxing after winning his well anticipated match with Amir Khan on February 19, 2022 via sixth-round TKO in a one-sided performance at Manchester Arena in England. * * * Manny Pacquiao also retired from boxing in September 2021 after losing to Yordenis Ugas on August 21, 2021 by unanimous decision. The 45-year-old former senator is reportedly coming out of retirement this year. The former eight-division world champion has been called out by Kell Brook. * * * Brook has expressed his intentions of making a ring comeback possibly with Conor Benn. However, Brook has set his sights at former eight-division world champion Pacquiao, who reportedly will come out of retirement. * * * Brook told Lucky Block: “I wouldn’t shy away from it if it made sense for me and boxing fans wanted to see it happen. Maybe we could get Amir Khan or Manny Pacquiao back in the ring. Manny Pacquiao is a legend, of course I’d love to share the ring with him. It would be an honor.” * * * The Filipino boxing icon returned to the ring on December 11, 2022 for a one-sided exhibition bout with South Korean martial artist DK Yoo in Goyang, South Korea. Pacman is set to return to action in April for another exhibition match against Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek. * * * A return to the professional fights could be in the radar of the future Hall of Famer, who has been targeting some big names as suggested by his manager. * * * His manager Sean Gibbons told Boxing Scene: “Technically, he's out of retirement. He would love to fight Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia. He's got about a year left. He just wants to fight. Manny feels that he's in tremendous shape. He's training for this exhibition but hopefully that will lead to something bigger and better." * * * "I do [see a pro return for Pacquiao]. One of the fights that people talked about for a long time was Manny Pacquiao versus Conor McGregor. That's something that will be sensational in Saudi Arabia, let's go.
