LA Lakers Also Drop Game at Home; Golden State Beat Indiana on Road By Teodoro Medina Reynoso PhilBoxing.com Fri, 09 Feb 2024 Following their crosstown neighbors, the Los Angeles Lakers likewise dropped their first home game after a successful road trip, succumbing to the Denver Nuggets, 114-108. The Lakers had a couple days rest from their road swing and although hurting, Anthony Davis was able to join Lebron James in the game versus the Nuggets. However absent was high scoring guard D'Angelo Russell and he could have helped the Lakers. Davis and James led the Lakers starting unit which accounted for 79 points with 32 points and 25 points respectively. They got 15 from Austin Reeves and 7 from Max Christie but only 2 from starter Riu Hachimura. On the other side, four of the Nuggets starting five scored a combined 90 points lead by Jamal Murray (28) Michael Porter Jr (27), Nikola Jokic (24) and Aaron Gordon (11). In a nutshell, the Nuggets, although outrebounded, shoot better from the field, including the 3 point area and the foul line. With the win, the Nuggets join the Minnesota Timberwolves which also won earlier today over the Milwaukee Bucks 129-106, on top of the Western Conference both at 36-16 half a won game ahead of idle OKC Thunder (35-16) and a full won game ahead of the Clippers (34-16). The Lakers impaired to 27-26 and remained at 9th in the West. Meanwhile, the Golden State Warriors won their third straight game against Eastern teams, beating the Indiana Pacers, 131-109 in Indianapolis. Stephen Curry hit 42 points and Jonathan Kuminga scored 18 for the Warriors. Although six Pacers were on double figures none hit 20 with Pascal Siakam scoring the highest at 16 points.
