NBA Daily: Nuggets Beat Timberwolves 109-100 to Extend Win Streak to Five

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – Nikola Jokic posted his 33rd career triple double, his fifth for the season, to help the Denver Nuggets annex the Minnesota Timberwolves 109-100 on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time) at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.

Jokic finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists, to go with 2 blocks. He’s currently on a streak of eight consecutive double-doubles that includes two triple-doubles.

All other Nuggets starters also scored in double figures, led by Jamal Murray’s game high 28 markers. He also had 6 boards, 5 dimes, and 3 steals, while shooting 3-for-6 from the rainbow territory and a perfect 7-for-7 from the charity stripe.

Andrew Wiggins topscored for the Timberwolves with 19. Minnesota missed the services of top player Karl-Anthony Towns for the second straight game due to a sprained left knee. Gorgui Dieng started in his place and scored 18 points, shooting 6-for-11 from the field, including 4-for-6 from deep.

Minnesota has lost 9 straight and are now at 12th place in the Western Conference team standings with 10 wins and 17 losses. They will try to snap that losing streak as they face the Trailblazers in Portland on Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Nuggets, who are now at 2nd place in the same conference with a 19-8 win-loss card, will try to extend their winning streak, as they face the conference’s top dog Lakers on Sunday night (Monday morning, Philippine time) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.

How they scored:

Nuggets 109 – Murray 28, Jokic 22, Barton 13, Millsap 11, Harris 11, Beasley 6, Plumlee 5, Grant 5, Morris 4, Porter Jr. 2, Craig 2
