NBA Daily: George and Leonard Breach 40 Points Each to Power Clippers Past Timberwolves 124-117

PhilBoxing.com

Boracay Island, Philippines – Paul George and Kawhi Leonard scored 46 and 42 points, respectively to help the Los Angeles Clippers survive the Timberwolves’ furious fourth quarter rally to edge Minnesota 124-117 on Friday night (Saturday morning, Philippine time) at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

George shot 17-for-31 for the night, including 6-for-15 from deep, to go along with 5 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 steals. Leonard complemented George’s efforts with 10-for-24 shooting from the field, including 3-for-3 from behind the arc and a perfect 19-for-19 from the charity stripe. He also had 11 boards and 2 dimes for the Clippers, who missed the services of Lou Williams due to a right calf injury.

That was the first time in franchise history for a Clippers duo to finish with at least 40 points each in a game. With the victory, the Clippers stretched their winning streak to four and improved to 20 wins and 7 losses.

Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins also had productive nights for Minnesota. Towns scored 39, while Wiggins added 34. Jeff Teague had 22 markers off the bench for the Timberwolves, who dropped to a 10-15 win-loss record.

Up next for the Timberwolves are the New Orleans Pelicans in Minnesota on Wednesday night (Thursday morning, Philippine time).

Meanwhile, the Clippers will be at Chicago on Saturday night (Sunday morning, Philippine time) to face the Bulls.
