Pacquiao-Thurman co-main event: Ugas dominates Figueroa

LAS VEGAS - Yordenis Ugas (23-4, 11 KOs) of Santiago, Cuba easily defeated Omar Figueroa Jr. of Weslasco, Texas in a World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title eliminator by a dominant Unanimous Decision.
Ugas scored a shutout score of 119-107 in all of the three judges at ringside. The lone deduction was from a penalty that was issued by Referee Russell Mora for excessive holding in the 5th round.
The Cuban scored an early knockdown with a straight right in the 1st round. That knockdown set the tempo of the fight. Ugas dominated with his right hand which Figueroa has no answer for. Ugas hit him with right hooks and overhand rights that found its mark effectively.
Figueroa Jr. who was previously unbeaten prior to this fight bore the results of the punishment that he suffered from Ugas. His face was red, swollen and bloodied when the fight ended. He bravely fought back but he offered very little danger or competition against his victorious foe.
Figueroa vs. Ugas was the co-main event of the Pacquiao-Thurman Pay-Per-View at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and televised via FOX Sports.
