Pacquiao- Thurman PPV undercard: Lipinets stops Inson
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 21 Jul 2019
LAS VEGAS - Sergey Lipinets (15-1, 11 KOs) of Kazakhstan stopped Jayar Inson (18-2, 12 KOs) of Davao City in the 2nd round of their World Boxing Organization Intercontinental welterweight title match.
Lipinets buried a hard left hook to the face of Inson which dropped the Filipino face first to the canvas.
Inson rebounded and stood up after the knockdown but Referee Jay Nady looked at the Filipino fighter?s eyes and instantly waived the fight off to the surprise of the boxer at the 57 second mark of the 2nd.
The fighter who is trained by Nonoy Neri of Team Pacquiao was a late replacement foe for the victor because Lipinets original opponent pulled out of the fight during Fight Week.
The Kazakh who now trains in Woodland Hills, California under Joe Goosen was supposed to originally fight John Molina but a back injury forced Molina out of the fight.
Lipinets, a former IBF 140 pound champ improved to 16-1 and 12 KOS. His lone defeat came in the hands of Miley Garcia when he was dethroned for the said belt in March 2018 in Texas.
Meanwhile, Inson will have to go back to the drawing board after suffering his second consecutive loss in the United States. He recently lost to Jonathan Steele in this same venue as part of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Adrian Broner undercard last January.
"I got hit and I slipped, that made it look worse. When I stood up I thought I was fine and tried to raise my hands and show the referee," said Inson after the fight. "I feel good now and I was ready to fight. I'll be back and ready to put on a good performance."
