Moralde to fight Russian for WBF world super bantam title By Lito delos Reyes PhilBoxing.com Mon, 05 Jan 2015 DAVAO-born John Vincent "Mulawin" Moralde will fight Russian Vladimmir Tikhonov for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) world super bantamweight title on February 27 in Malta. The 12-round world title-bout is slated at the Hilton Hotel in Fortunasa, Malta according to Moralde's young manager-promoter Jim Claude Manangquil of Sanman Promotions in General Santos City. The 5-foot-7 Moralde is undefeated with 11 straight wins with six knockouts and no draw. The 20-year old orthodox fighter previously won against Jason Butar Butar of Indonesia via a unanimous decision last October 13, 2014 to win the vacant WBF International super bantamweight crown at the Lagao Gym in General Santos City. Tikhonov is also undefeated with 12 wins, 6 by knockouts with no loss or draw. The 5-foot-7 Russian beat Isaac Quaye on points in an 8-rounder bout held December 7 at the Titanic Hotel in Liverpool, UK. The 24-year old southpaw decked Quaye in the third and sixth rounds for the convincing win. Quaye will be Moralde's most dangerous opponent since turning pro in October 2011. Moralde, a former top amateur boxer from Davao City, also earlier captured the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) super bantamweight title by stopping Ronerex Dalut in the second round on July 2, 2014 at the Bula Gym in Gensan. One of Moralde's past victims was Rolando Navarette Jr., son of former world champion Rolando a.k.a. "Bad Boy of Dadiangas", who was retired in the 4th round of a six-rounder held June 22, 2013 in Bantayan, Cebu. -- LITO DELOS BIGGEST FIGHT.
