Tepora to see action as MP?s undercard, advised to impress Pacman
UNBEATEN young fighter Jack Tepora goes for another impressive performance in an attempt to make an impression on Manny Pacquiao that could possibly earn him a slot in the Filipino boxing icon?s undercard.
?That?s what I have been telling Jack. That he needs to have an impressive showing because Manny will be watching and maybe he will be interested and put him in one of his undercards,? Jack?s older brother and trainer Christopher ?Ping-Ping? Tepora told Sun.Star Cebu.
Jack is seeing action in the undercard of MP Promotions? boxing show on Aug. 23 at the Almendras Gym in Davao City, wherein the 35-year-old Pacquiao is expected to watch. He is facing experienced Michael Escobia in a 10-rounder.
MP Promotions, Pacquiao?s boxing promotional outfit, has been eyeing Jack for quite some time now. He was even invited to Pacquiao?s training camp for a fight Brandon Rios last year in Gen. Santos City. But somehow Jack hasn?t seen action in an undercard of a Manny Pacquiao fight.
Jack hopes that he hits the jackpot this time around.
?It would be nice if they will be interested with Jack. They have been the ones giving him fights,? said Christopher.
Pacquiao?s next ring appearance will be Nov. 22 at the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Casino and Resort in Macau against unbeaten Chris Algieri.
The 19-year-old Jack won his first title from a minor boxing organization, the World Boxing Federation Asia-Pacific super bantamweight belt, in his last outing. He beat journeyman Joas Apericio via a 10th round technical knockout at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino to win the belt.
The 23-year-old Escobia, on the other hand, is on a rough patch in his career, losing his last four fights. He is coming off a tough unanimous decision defeat to Japanese Masaaki Serie three months ago.
Tepora is 10-0 with six knockouts, while Escobia is 10-7-1 with two knockouts.
The main event features Jerwin Ancajas (20-1-1, 12 KOs) taking on Thai Yokthong KKP (15-4, 11 KOS), while Aston Palicte (13-1, 11 KOs) faces off with Indonesian Frans Damur Palue (7-3-2, 3 KOs) in the main supporting bout.
Jack?s teammate at the Omega Boxing Gym in Cebu City, Christian Araneta (4-0, 3 KOs), is also seeing action in the card against Melmark Dignos (2-0). EKA
