LAS VEGAS ? The choice of gloves is an issue once again in the run-up to the rubber match between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales.
While it has already been decided long before that Pacquiao will use the Mexican-made Cleto Reyes gloves, his opponent, the proud Tijuana native, has also opted to wear Reyes gloves based on reports that have been swirling around the past few days.
Even Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach expressed the belief that Morales will take a risk in dumping the Japan-made Winning in favor of Reyes, reputed to be the choice of punchers like Pacquiao.
In the first match that Morales won on points, both fighters wore Winning, which is heavily-padded in the knuckle area since these brand are known to have ample protection.
In the rematch that Pacquiao won in convincing fashion, the Filipino lefty wore the Reyes gloves en route to a stunning 10th round stoppage of the previously unsinkable Morales.?
