I began my hunt for a new job this week. Don’t worry, I’m not leaving RSR. I am planning to skedaddle from the Chemical Plant to something more savory. Now, I have never really “skedaddled” before, mainly because I was warned that I would go blind, but I have to in this instance. I need more money and benefits, which my job surely doesn’t supply. I am hoping the day will come soon when I can look my boss right in his bloated face and say: “I quit mother @#$@#@!” I have seen it in the movies and I desperately want art to imitate life in shit instance.
What is with these tough guys nowadays? You know the sort. They walk the streets, apparently mad at everything and stare intently at any other dude that walks or drives by. Sometimes you will find them sitting on the steps of a random building with that glare. What are they so mad about? I don’t understand the mentality of a person like that. Do they just walk down the street, constantly saying to themselves: “I’m mad. I’m mad. I’m mad. I’m mad. I’m so very, very mad.” I’m not looking for an embrace, but when I walk past somebody, a friendly “hello,” or a “how do,” if I’m visiting Tennessee, which would be strange, because I can’t see any reason to go there at this time. Perhaps I could visit Graceland and find where Elvis is hiding because he did fake his death after all.
My point is, besides Elvis still being alive, is that there is not enough love in this world. Too many people out there are mad. They have actually negatively affected my life. I don’t hold doors for anyone anymore. All I want is a “thank you kind sir,” or “thank you Bambino. I’m a huge fan of your work,” but they don’t say a word, as if they were entitled to have the door opened by me. Not on my watch. I’m not a doorman. I’m not Ralph from “The Jeffersons.” I’m not even Tom or Helen. I’m probably closest to Bentley.
So, it is Saturday and what are the plans for this weekend? Well, I am having a Halloween party tonight with all of my pals from the X Posse. My son “Munch” will be going as Superman and my wife is going as Wonder Woman. I’m just calling her that because I wonder why I can’t get any. My costume has yet to be determined. Last year, I went as Magnum P.I., and this year, I am at a loss. I was thinking about coming as a superhero, but I don’t want to wear spandex, creating a new superhero called: Leave Nothing to the Imagination Man. So, I will let you know in the next bag what I was and how it went.
Hmm. I guess that it is time for a movie review. I watched a flick called “Stay Alive,” and it involved a video game that was being tested by a select few and the people that were playing it, when they died in the game, they died in reality. With that as the storyline, you are probably curios why I even rented it. Yes, my expectations were low, and rightfully so. This movie is not great, but it is not horrible either. I could recommend worse. The beginning of the flick is compelling, but it loses the momentum about halfway through and never picks up again. It is worth a rent if every other video in the video store is already out, but I would probably suggest that you avoid it unless you are really desperate.
Now, people, Manny Pacquiao has won another poll. According to the RSR readers that voted, Pacman is a better super featherweight than Julio Cesar Chavez, and captured a whopping 76% of the votes. For our next poll, we will be looking for the best heavyweight of all time and if Manny wins this one, I will be shocked! Then again, anything is possible. Thanks to everyone that participated.

If you are going to continue having Pacman be an option on these RSR polls you might as well save the space on your front page. This is so similar to how many Tyson fans are/were, including myself at one time. No common sense, can’t be objective, and a little bit blind to boot. Yes Manny is a good fighter. He is even a better entertainer. He is not the best P4P fighter and he is most certainly not the best super-feather of all time. To those website visitors that have their blinders on: Julio Cesar Chavez won his first 88 fights! He went 91 fights without a loss. Do you understand that? Manny couldn’t hold Julio’s jock.
Manny would be just good enough to hold Julio’s spit bucket. Now that you people with “Tyson” Syndrome have been told the truth here is one more piece of truth for you…Manny would have a hard time winning a round against Pretty Boy Floyd. They are just two different levels of fighters. Floyd is WAY to fast and way to skilled. Manny falls just a little above a Gatti to me because he is more skilled but just as entertaining. I find him to be more of a myth than anything.
Come on Geno back me up and try to show some of your readers the light. Of course if you do you know you will receive twice as much hate mail as you normally do.

Calm down there buddy. I have to back you up here on Julio Cesar Chavez. I can’t be disrespectful and say spit bucket this and jock that and I spit on your jock or whatever, but I will say that I would and did pick Julio Cesar Chavez as the man. He had an iron chin, ruthless aggression, a huge heart, and tenacity. He was absolutely amazing…the best Mexican fighter of all time.
Manny Pacquiao is WAY better than Arturo Gatti. Look at the people that Gatti has beaten and look at the trail of opponents left in the dust by Pacman. Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez are far better than Micky Ward, Joey Gamache, and Terron Millett. Against the real marquee fighters, Gatti folded like a blanket. Pacquiao is one of the best in the game, and under the right circumstances, could give PBF a run for his money.
I really don’t get that much hate mail. Ever since that guy told me to get “more smarter,” there hasn’t been much. Once in a while, I will get a “F you” for some reason, but nothing else. I want to see: “F you because of such and such,” because it makes no sense any other way.

The key to this fight for Baldomir are two things. One, he has to dictate the distance. The more that he remains at a farther distance, the more PBF will be prone to attack, leaving opportunities to land his shots on the counter. He must be very steady and consistent in this fight, continually putting the body attack on Floyd and not fighting foolishly: winging shots. If he can maintain the distance, remain steady, and keep the smaller man on the end of his punches, he may have another upset victory under his belt. What I see is a win in the range of 116-112 for PBF due to the skill difference, but remember, the momentum is with Baldomir that has become a poster child for getting 20% better when you win a championship.

I am here to amuse my friend and I’m glad that you crack the @#$@# up, as you say. It was the Winnie the Pooh without pants, wasn’t it? Now, with the finger, I am merely stating that I’m #1. That was big in the 1980’s and I’m a child of the 80’s, so by showing my erect finger, that means that I’m indicating that I am #1…the best mailbag guy around. Sure, you have some other guys that have mailbags, but they don’t talk about the important matters like cartoon characters that don’t wear pants.
Now, Miguel Cotto is very good and one of the most exciting guys in boxing right now. He has a suspect chin, but recovers quickly and has TONS of heart. He is undefeated and a tough guy with ambition. I am very impressed with Cotto and I want to see him fight Ricky Hatton very badly. That is one of the most, if not thee most, exciting fight in boxing right now.
I really haven’t spoken nor heard anything in regards to Donald Curry. So, I unfortunately cannot help you there.
Michael Nunn. Oh, Michael Nunn, why did you have to be so stupid? In 2002, he was arrested with cocaine and the intent to distribute. His drugs were “second to” Nunn, he might say to prospective clients. Because of his criminal past, he was given a very stern sentence and he is still there, unless he broke out. He was given a 24 year sentence, and if you think about it…that’s not too bad. It’s only like 19 years away. It is mind boggling to think of these star athletes that can still make money being so stupid. Clifford Etienne comes to mind. He won’t be dropping the soap any time soon. Ike Ibeabuchi is another one that wasted his life away. So, Harold, you still have some time before you can meet Nunn, unless you are interested in a conjugal visit.
Was Mickey Rourke any good as a boxer? Hmm. How do I say this without sounding mean? He was horrible. I give him credit for loving the sport and competing, but in all actuality, it was horrible to watch him in there…not as much as Mark Gastineau, but it was pretty bad.

Welcome to RSR my friend, and I appreciate that you chose to send me a question/comment. I certainly agree with you. Erik Morales is the last man that you want to underestimate, but he is certainly an underdog here. It may be a scary situation because redemption may come at a very high and dangerous price. This bout isn’t about money for Morales. It is about proving to himself that he can still do it and that he had a few bad nights when he wasn’t mentally right. If Manny takes him lightly, perhaps he can win this thing, but I see a beating developing in the middle rounds and if the referee doesn’t stay close, we might see something very horrible transpire. I hope not, but why would you put a guy that has lost 75% of his last four fights against a killer like Pacquiao? I think that 2 or 3 tune ups would have been a better idea.

I think that this is Erik Morales’ last fight regardless. I get the sense that he wants to ride off into the sunset with a big victory under his belt, saying goodbye to the sport, victorious. In order to be an all time great, you have to have great opposition and that is what Manny has and has beaten. Marco Antonio Barrera has only lost to Pacquiao recently and has beaten some pretty good guys, even though he is considered far past his prime. Erik Morales is another all time great that was knocked out by Pacman, and Juan Manuel Marquez was lucky to survive with a draw. The criteria to be an all time great may not have been met just yet, but Pacquiao is on his way. He is a great champion, but there is still a ways to go before he reaches that level. It’s not unattainable, but that level is very hard for anyone to reach.

Maybe, but I doubt it. There are times when brothers have to duke it out, but I don’t see brothers meeting on a huge stage as a Pac vs. Pac bout would be held upon. I think that both Pacquiaos are talented boxers, but Manny is obviously the more talented and more exciting of the two, with his power punching and timing. Now, the marketing for this fight is very easy. Brother versus Brother is a sell right there. If I were running the promotion, I would interview the family members and tell them that if they don’t cry about the upcoming fight, I would not air their interview nor give them the complimentary canned ham that I promised. (Note: I hate ham.) This is never going to happen, but if it does, it will be HUGE, especially in the Philippines, but this is the type of match that would generate worldwide attention.

What do we (people in Australia) have to do to get HBO or Showtime boxing channels over here? Just because we live “Down Under” doesn’t mean that all of us don’t appreciate the sweet science. I mean, if we have to pay extra on top of our monthly pay TV fee, it’s ok. The thing is, it’s not even available here! Why? Why? Why Geno why?
I think it’s grape kicking time, but I don’t know who to kick harder: our local Pay TV provider for not making HBO or Showtime available, or the HBO and Showtime moguls themselves. Enlighten me please, mate.

You know who you should contact. You should contact the biggest force in Australia that probably has the most political push. This force could easily bring HBO/Showtime and any other station, let’s say Spice, to your television sets. You need to contact: The Wiggles. I watch them every morning with my son, and they are huge. Kids love those guys. Murray, Anthony, Greg, and Jeff, and who can forget about the lovable Wags the dog?
What I recommend, first, is to get the number of HBO…which you can probably find somewhere on the HBO website, and just scream/sing the tune “Big Red Car,” by the Wiggles to show them that you mean business.
Now, I don’t know why HBO doesn’t try to take your money too? They will not be happy until you sign your entire check over to them. So, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it. HBO gets my vote for a kick in the grapes for all of the unnecessary pay per screws. I would love to take the President of HBO and say this is from down under and kick him in the grapes. “Down under,” he’d say. “You’re not kidding.”

Good day to you. There is a saying that comes to mind: Who are you trying to convince, me or yourself? Morales is really trying to convince himself. There is a lot of doubt in his mind and if he keeps on repeating that Pacman isn’t anything special and that he just had bad nights and is now better, then he may be able to beat this demon of doubt and perform the way that he used to. Pacman, nor anyone else should take this personally. Morales is basically talking to himself and trying to fight the fear.
I think that after the bout, if Pacman wins again by convincing knockout, you will see Morales shake the hand of his conqueror with no ill will from his side. A fighter is the toughest occupation in the world and there is a lot of respect here, talk aside. I look forward to a sportsmanlike display before and after the event.

Nice nickname…thanks. I think that Diego Corrales needed to move up a while ago and I think that he will be even better, heavier. Even though he brings a bigger punch to the lightweight division, when he moves up, he won’t be nearly as drained and therefore, have more staying power and endurance. I would love to see him tussle with Ricky Hatton at 140 pounds. That would be a great match up!

Before I was just one of your readers, but when I read about Pacman joining GBP one question that comes immediately on my mind. Would you agree that maybe GBP is doing this just for the benefits of Barrera? Especially they’re doing this right before Pacman Nov. 18 bout with Morales, they will create distraction for Pacman in order for him to lose to Morales. And if Pacman lost to Morales, Barrera will have all the excuses to avoid Pacman, Since Pacman will no longer be the No. 1 Contender, and Barrera scored 2-1 over Morales, there maybe no fourth fight for Morales & Barrera. And Barrera could say bye! Bye! Boxing no Manny Pacquiao anymore bothering my mind. Barrera has beaten Manny without fighting him…..and Barrera will hang-up his gloves as a champion…What do think?

Interesting point my friend. Considering that MAB-Pac is such a huge fight, having promotional rights to both of them would certainly add more gold to the GBP. I do think that they are looking for future investments and Manny is one of them. They know that Morales and Barrera are on their way out and want to secure the bigger names GBP is big business and they are milking the MAB cow for all its worth and will gladly sacrifice him in order to bring in the money. The best interest of MAB is not to take on Pacman because he has NEVER come back from a loss like that. He cannot adjust. Perhaps he is only looking to go the distance and collect a paycheck and that’s okay in De La Hoya’s eyes because he gets paid regardless. Look at MAB-Juarez 2. GBP should be ashamed of themselves for putting that turd on pay per view.
The bottom line is the bottom line and Manny is one of the biggest draws in boxing. Believe it or not, GBP wants Pacman to win because Barrera has already ran his course and is less valuable. They are saying “good luck” to him, but when he leaves the room, they finish the sentence with “scraping yourself off of the canvas. See you in the hospital moron.” This is prize fighting and it is about money, but the greedy @#$@#$@#s have ruined the sport to an extent. Sorry to rant and rave, but you made me Dencio.

We have outstanding writers and a great crew all around. Now, for Pacman to win, it is simple: pressure, pressure, pressure. He needs to make this a dog fight and work that body. He should also throw that right hook as much as possible because Morales is open for it. The body work and the right hook are the keys to victory for the Filipino superstar. He needs to go after the man that has had this fluctuating weight issue and challenge his endurance with pressure.
