In the built up to ?The Moment? the question that fans asked the most was, what would be next for Floyd after the win? Following Mayweather-Maidana it was pretty clear what would be next, as Marcos Maidana had more success against Mayweather than any fighter before him and showed that Mayweather?s perfect record, might not be perfect forever.
In part 1 of my interview with Floyd Mayweather Sr, I get his thoughts on his son?s fight with Maidana and what he thought about Maidana?s strategy to win. Floyd also talks about the refereeing in the bout, and if he thinks his son should really give Maidana a rematch. Additionally Floyd talks about what options could be next for his son, and if he thinks Maidana?s performance means that Manny Pacquiao has a better chance against his son. Here is what Floyd Mayweather Sr. had to say.

Jenna J: Floyd what are your thoughts on your son?s fight with Marcos Maidana?
Floyd Mayweather Sr: Well it was like a supreme boxer fighting with an MMA fighter. The guy did everything that was wrong, he head butted him, he hit him behind the head, he kneed him, he twist his arm ? what can you say that he did not do? He did it all. Everything that was bad, he did it.
Jenna: Were you concerned when you saw Maidana go out that way and that the referee wasn?t doing anything about it?
Mayweather Sr: The referee didn?t do a damn thing about it. I?m really shocked and amazed about (Tony) Weeks, I?m really, really surprised that he didn?t do anything. He didn?t take a point, he didn?t do nothing. I know some refs that would have seen all that stuff that he did and they would have disqualified him, automatically.
Jenna: Were you concerned that your son was willingly going to the ropes early on in the fight?
Mayweather Sr: Well, one thing about it, there was a fight that happened and any fool that can?t see that the fight was in Floyd?s favor, something?s wrong with them because the judge come talk about it being even, there wasn?t anything even in that fight, period.
Jenna: Did you think the first 6 rounds were close?
Mayweather Sr: Yeah I think some of the rounds were close but you got to realize that it?s different when you?re fighting a guy that?s doing all that kind of stuff. I?m just saying, if you all want to call him winning all those rounds, you can say it but he can?t get no credit from me cause he didn?t do shit.
All he was doing was being dirty, that?s a fact about the whole thing. He wasn?t fighting fair so how could you say he won anything if he?s fighting that way? I ain?t give nobody no credit that?s hitting people behind the head, butting people with his head, twisting people?s arms, and hitting people below the belt. He did everything that was wrong.
Jenna: Do you think Floyd could have made the fight easier for himself?
Mayweather Sr: Yes I do, and I think he will do it the next time. I think the next time, we?re gonna sit down and go over everything. We?re gonna do it totally different. If my son do like I tell him to do ? my son even said that he didn?t listen to me and kind of did his own thing. That happens some times, sometimes people in their head they do it their way. He did it his way but still came out on top, that?s a good thing.
Jenna: From a trainers perspective do you give Maidana any credit at all for the way he attacked your son?
Mayweather Sr: No, you don?t get no credit from me at all from fighting that way. Not only that, if you listened to it, what did his trainer tell him to do? When it got late in the rounds what did his trainers tell him to do? The trainers were telling him, ?Whatever you?re doing, do whatever it takes to win.? What is that? His trainer was telling him to play dirty.
Jenna: You think Robert Garcia?s plan was to try to rough up your son?
Mayweather Sr: Oh that?s definitely what they were saying about my son. But you know what? My son ain?t no Broner, my son is not no Broner by far. I think you saw that yourself.
Jenna: Now the big question is, what?s next for your son? Do you think it should be a Maidana fight again?
Mayweather Sr: I wouldn?t fight him again. Honestly, I would not fight him again.
Jenna: Why is that? Do you think he doesn?t deserve it for the way that he fought?
Mayweather Sr: Exactly, but you know, if we do fight him again, I guarantee you Weeks will not be a ref, not at all. If you got somebody that can ref, then they?re gonna take points. If they take points for the things that he do, hey, then he?ll stop it, he?ll stop some of that stuff.
Jenna: Do you think fans want to see a rematch?
Mayweather Sr: A lot of people tell me that they don?t want to see the fight again. They feel like it?s a good fight but they feel like they don?t wanna see it when a guy is doing things like that and the referee letting it go.
Jenna: Then who would you want to see your son fight next? Would it be someone like Amir Khan?
Mayweather Sr: Let me say this right here ? Amir Khan, he?s clumsy, he?s lousy, Amir Khan don?t look like nothing. Amir Khan don?t look like nothing, period. He looks like shit.
Jenna: What were your thoughts on Khan?s win against Luis Collazo?
Mayweather Sr: Man, some of the ways that I?ve seen that Amir Khan was throwing his punches, I don?t see much at all, I really don?t. He?s not impressive to me and that?s me and the millions of other people.
Jenna: As a father, do you still want to see your son continue to fight? He?s made so much money, he doesn?t have to fight anymore.
Mayweather Sr: Sometimes things are rooted for people to try things, in whatever it is. I?m just saying this right now, there?s a thing about Marciano right now, the surpassing of Marciano. I guess that?s what he would probably be at.
Well , I think he has to be 50-0 to surpass Marciano. They got 3 more fights, I?m more than sure that if Floyd gets to the 49, I?m pretty sure they?ll come up with that fight. I think my son will win against Maidana, then we?ll see what else happens.
Jenna: After your son?s fight with Maidana, you will hear a plethora of fans that are all saying that Manny Pacquiao would do better now against your son. What do you think about that?
Mayweather Sr: No, no, no. Oh shit, Manny Pacquiao wouldn?t do shit. Manny Pacquiao is nowhere near that wild, nowhere near. Plus, Manny Pacquiao ain?t wearing no 165lbs either. Everything you?re talking about, it makes a difference.
Manny Pacquiao is nowhere near that big or that size, to even jump all over Floyd. I?m just saying, it won?t happen and it?s not even in the cards. Manny Pacquiao can jump all over Floyd if he wants to get knocked out, that?s what?s gonna happen with him.
