BOHOLANO sensation Rey “Boom-Boom” Bautista will return to the ring on Dec. 2 in the US.
ALA Boys manager Antonio Lopez Aldeguer announced that Bautista, who has started his light training last week, has been booked by the Golden Boy Promotions to fight in the US, likely in an undercard of an Ike Quartey fight.
“They really wanted Bautista to fight in the US, and he is going to fight there,” said Aldeguer.
Cancelled bouts
Of the three scheduled fights of Bautista under the Golden Boy Promotions, only one pushed through—-the May 20 vs. Roberto Bonilla. The other two were cancelled because of a flu infection and clavicle injury last July and September, respectively.
Now that his injured collarbone has completely healed, Bautista will start his full training next week.
“Next week Bautista will start his sparring, just light sparring yet. He started his training last week, doing everything but without sparring. But even before he had completed the six-week rest, he was doing light training like jogging and shadow boxing,” said Aldeguer.
US training
After Oct. 21, Bautista along with the other ALA Boys Z Gorres, AJ Banal and Mark Jason Milleguen will leave for the US to train at the Wild Card Gym.
Bautista will prepare for his Dec. 2 fight, Gorres will also prepare for his next assignment, while Banal and Milleguen will be there for training purposes.
Aldeguer said it is best for the four boxers to be in the US early and start their training to make sure they are in perfect shape.
As for upstarts Banal and Milleguen, Aldeguer wants them to be exposed to a quality sparring partners for their future stints in the US.
