DERECK CHISORA, once the bad boy of British boxing, has slammed Mike Tyson for admissions in his recent autobiography that he was high on drugs for some of his boxing career. Tyson claims – in the book ?Undisputed Truth? – that he duped dope testers by using a fake penis that contained ?clean? urine. According to the former heavyweight king, he was high on cocaine when he savaged Lou Savarese inside 40 seconds in a 2000 Glasgow bout (pictured).
?[He?s] not [an idol] since what he wrote in his book that he was cheating on dope testing,? Chisora sneered. ?I?m not a big fan now. I don?t really like him no more because in this game, we don?t cheat, we work hard, and we don?t take drugs.?
The British heavyweight turned his career around in 2013, winning four bouts, claiming the European title, and establishing himself as one of the leading contenders in the world. It?s all a far cry from past indiscretions that include biting an opponent, slapping and spitting at the Klitschko brothers, and his infamous press conference brawl with David Haye. But Chisora?s crimes, one might argue, were all spur of the moment lapses in judgement as opposed to Tyson?s premeditated rule breaking.
Chisora, a fan of boxing history and its protagonists, now has no respect for a man he used to admire.
?I have lost interest in everything he has ever done because by writing that, if he had killed somebody by taking drugs in the ring, what would we be saying right now?
?You can?t be cheating in boxing and then brag about it when you retire. You don?t do that. I?m not a big fan of his no more.?
