Ring return set for Denver Cuello

MANILA – Four months after he underwent surgery to repair his torn rotator cuff, Filipino WBC minimumweight contender Denver Cuello has already been lined up for a return bout. Longtime boxing manager Aljoe Jaro told Solar Sports Desk that the hard-hitting southpaw has already been lined up to led a fight card they are organizing at the Solaire Resort and Casino in Pasay City. Makakalaban niya yung Argentine puncher na si Walter Rojas,? said Jaro, who however stressed that the fight will still depend on the clearance of Cuello?s doctors. Nakakapag barbell na nga ulit eh,? added the Binangonan, Rizal based promoter. Cuello drew the respect of boxing fans worldwide when he opted to challenge WBC 105-pound champion Xiong Zhao Zhong of China in about last July literally as a one-armed fighter. The 25-year-old Cabatuan, Iloilo pugilist injured his right shoulder a few days before their showdown in Dubai, which the Chinese won via a still hard-earned majority decision. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Beng Javier has initially assessed Cuello to a full six months of rest before again plunging to action.
