After failing to bring home the WBC International lightweight title, heavy puncher Dexter Delada will go for the Philippine 135-pound crown as he headlines the ?Double Trouble in Dapitan? on July 25 at Dawo, Dapitan City.
The RP No.1 rated Delada (14-3), who hails from Camiguin, will fight the No.2-ranked Christopher Saluday in a 12-round bout for the vacant RP lightweight title. The card is sponsored by Powerhouse Productions and RWS Promotions.
This will be Delada?s biggest chance to win the nation?s lightweight title after losing via knockout against former champion Fernando Montilla in his first attempt last year.
Delada?s latest defeat was handed by South Africa?s Ali Funeka during their fight for the WBC International title last May 27.
Braveheart
Also featured in the card is the long-missed Wendyll Janiola, who is now fighting under RWS International Stable, as he guns for the vacant Philippine Boxing Federation light flyweight title against Philip Parcon of the Vic Adriano Stable of Davao City.
The former world-rated Janiola, who is known as Braveheart in the boxing circuit, is coming off a frustrating defeat to Julius Alcos in Dec. 28 last year and is raring to display his potential under a new home.
Janiola carries a 17-4, card with 9 KOs card is hoping to regain his lofty world status and will make international campaigner Parcon as his stepping stone back to international glory.
Janiola, the former RP 108-pound champion, has fought for three international titles ? IBO, OPBF title and an IBF eliminator bout in September 2004, when he lost by technical decision to Mexican Eric Ortiz.
Aside from the two bouts, organizers have promised to hold additional 48 rounds in the undercard.
