It?s hard to believe that the administration that brought flying killer robots to the battlefield can?t create a website that works?
The United States is the only industrialized nation on the planet without universal healthcare. In the ?land of the free and the home of the brave,? healthcare is a privilege, not a right. If one gets sick and is broke, there is always death, in lieu of willing doctors, to alleviate your pain.
The Affordable Care Act, aka ObamaCare, is the president?s greatest legislative achievement. But as is always the case with Barack Obama, a Rockefeller Republican posing as a Progressive, it was half-baked, a giveaway to the insurance companies, another instance of style trumping substance.
When it comes to nitty-gritty, one has to go all the way back to Lyndon Johnson to find a president committed to real change in a positive direction. There have been many presidents since LBJ, and their records, no less than their wreckage, speaks for itself.
The rollout for ObamaCare has been a disaster. It?s hard to believe that the administration that brought flying killer robots to the battlefield can?t create a website that works. We can talk about the Affordable Care Act until we?re blue in the face, which may or may not be covered by ObamaCare, but no discussion on the subject would be complete until Mike Tyson weighed in.
Appearing on CNN?s ?Piers Morgan Live? to promote his autobiography and discuss the ?knockout game,? the latest sign of society?s inexorable slide into barbarism, the former heavyweight champion also spoke about ObamaCare.
?There?s people who haven?t been to the doctor in 20 years,? he said, ?because they can?t afford it. [But ObamaCare] just really went horrible, didn?t it? It?s really bad. I was for it 100 percent, but we just have to come to the reality that it didn?t work.?
The counterargument is to give it time, inasmuch as time heals all wounds, even if insurance companies do not.
?I don?t know what it takes to become a president,? continued Tyson. ?I don?t know how many butts or how much you have to be a brown-noser to be a president. But the reality of this plan?it didn?t work. So we have to find another plan.?
Finding another plan may be in order, as Mike says. Maybe the next plan won?t be written by the ?insurance providers.? Maybe the next plan will be something simple like Medicare for all. But chances are the next plan, if there is a next plan, will be more of the same, dressed in gossamer and tweaked by fancy words, where the status quo, as usual, is maintained at all costs.
