Manny Pacquiao will get no less than $4 million for his rubber match against Erik Morales on November 18 at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nick Khan, one of his American handlers, said before returning to the United States on Tuesday.
“Manny will get $4 million and up. This is excluding his cut from the pay-per-view of his fight against Morales,” said Khan, a lawyer, who arrived with Pacquiao on June 22 after the Filipino boxer trained for four weeks at the Wild Card gym for his match against Oscar Larios on Sunday.
Pacquiao showcased his new skills in dominating Larios en route to a unanimous decision win.
The Filipino fighter earlier earned $2 million in his last fight against “El Terrible” plus an undisclosed percentage of the pay-per-view revenue when they last fought on January 21. Pacquiao messed up Morales and stopped the Mexican in 10 rounds.
Khan also disclosed that whatever “legal misunderstandings” the boxer?s local advisers and his American handlers had before the Larios fight had been resolved.
“I feel that we?re moving on, and I hope Manny does so, too,” he said.
American manager Shelly Finkel had earlier threatened to sue Jing Gacal and Rex “Wakee” Salud, the boxer?s Filipino lawyer and adviser, respectively, for $7.5 million in damages, citing alleged “contractual interference.”
American trainer Freddie Roach had complained during their training that he and his boxer “do need this distraction” and was glad when it was all over.
