Hello Pacfans! It took some time for me to finally realize that a Manny Pacquiao segment standing alone was in order and now here it is. It is really amazing to see a boxer as the national hero of a country as the Pacman is and so too is Ricky Hatton. Here in the U.S.A., we apparently could care less. We would rather think about which fat and unattractive nanny that’s being sent to a broken home. There would be more requests for a nanny if they are remotely attractive and not the hideous cows that we are accustomed to. Now, I’m not saying that attractive women are better with children, but they are more T.V. friendly. I remember a time when I had a buddy that worked for a radio station and he would say: “I have a face for radio.” One day, I replied: “You can say that again.” I looked like a Rhino had its way with his face. He was as ugly as they come.
We are heading toward the WBC International Super Featherweight Title bout between the man responsible for this segment and the hopeful challenger Oscar Larios. I have heard many reports that Larios is doing very well in training and taking this very seriously. This is such a serious bout that they are airing it on…pay per view. Yes, just in case you haven’t had your fill of PPV events, here is another. The promoters know that you will not be happy until you directly sign over your paycheck to them, so they can afford more cars, more women, more tattoos for their butt. All rich people get those. So, it would be nice if they presented a five dollar pay per view. Wouldn’t that be nice? I would just like to see Bob Arum stand up and say: “This Pay Per View is five dollars. My 10th gold jet can wait a few weeks.”
There is a lot of talk about an eventual meeting between the pound-4-pound king, “Pretty Boy” Floyd Mayweather, JR., and the Filipino Superstar. In this bout, either PBF would have to move down some or Pacquiao would have to move up. This bout may just be all talk, and I think that it is…at least at this point. There has been talk of a showdown with the available Diego “Chico” Corrales as well and that would definitely be an attraction, but not so much, an evenly contested bout. Oscar Larios and Erik Morales are in the wings and should the Pacman get beyond them, he’ll probably face Rocky Juarez, should he get beyond MAB, as I suspect. We also have Jorge Barrios that wants his opportunity to escape anonymity with a win over a highly regarded and popular champion. So, it looks like the high demand has filled the Pacman’s dance card and we are all in for some action-packed boxing matches.
Whatever the case, the Pacman has a few good fights on the horizon and the fans have spoken. The fact that you are talking to me is greatly appreciated. Welcome to the mailbag my friend and I appreciate your email. Mayor? Hmm. I would absolutely love to run for Mayor, but unfortunately, I am sort of stuck here in the states…wife, job, kid, house, and so on, but I do plan to one day make it there for at least a fight because I appreciate the support that you give me in my mailbags and articles. So, I sincerely appreciate the sentiment from you. Geno the Mayor…that has a nice ring to it. Mayor McGahee…goes together perfectly! Mayor Bambino Geno the Machine-O…that’s good too. I would love to walk up to people and say: “I’m the Mayor!” That’s all I would say. I wouldn’t be rude, but I would say it loudly because most Mayors do that, don’t they? One time our Governor here in Massachusetts and I won’t say his name, but he’s one of those that ran for President came into Roy Rogers, where I was then working. Well, he was hitting on my girlfriend! She was the cashier at the time, and I was the manager. Women love men in power, even if it’s only fast food. Well, he wanted to show my ex some “Guv-love” if you know what I’m saying. Thankfully, she did not give him a Lewinkski…
I think that the way that Pacman achieves the early KO is to be the Pacman. He doesn’t need to change anything. He just has to go in there and fight the same fight that he fought against Morales the second time…lots of body work and utilize the right hook. Larios is not a guy that moves. He’s going to try to fight Manny off and if he can take the punch, it should be interesting, but I don’t believe that he can. If there is nothing physically wrong with Pacquiao, I think that he will win by just being himself.

Good day to you too bro! At 135, a match up between Pacman and PBF would be competitive, I think, but the higher that the bout goes in weight, the chances of Manny pulling it out are slimmer and slimmer. I will grant that PBF has issues with southpaws, but he has pushed through them to defeat some of the best ones out there like Judah, Mitchell, and Corley. At 135, there is the possibility that Floyd could be drained and may fall victim to the assault, eventually getting stopped in the later rounds, but I don’t see it. I would favor PBF heavily. It will certainly sell because the two names that are involved, but Floyd is a near-perfect fighter and will know how to deal with the smaller man. So, outside of an ill-prepared PBF, or a lucky shot landing, I am going with PBF by UD.

Thank you for the props and you may arise. A man on their knees in front of me can only start nasty rumors. Okay, what does Larios have to do style-wise to win this fight? First, he has to keep his composure. JMM really kept it together after the first round to control the fight and eke out the draw. I thought that Pac won that fight, but JMM created the blue print to beat him. Erik Morales followed it to the tee and held off the powerful fighter for twelve rounds. So, the hands have to be kept high and he has to be very alert. If he daydreams once, the fight is over. So, if he can keep his composure and try to keep this is a distance fight. Tie up the Pacman when he attacks and throw off his rhythm and use the jab. The problem is that Oscar Larios is not as good as Erik Morales or JMM, in my opinion. He may know the blue print, but can he implement it? I don’t think so.
In the end, Larios knows what he has to do to win, but his chin has been shaken before and he has never faced a fighter that hits like Pacman. It’s a very tough fight for Larios to win.

14 years ago, Manny went to the City of Manila from the province of GenSan City, penniless. He even had to beg for his food to eat… but he continued on his dream to become a “GREAT BOXER”… Now!!! PACMAN, owns a “Million $$$$” in his savings account… and his picture is posted all over the country… because of his huge product endorsements…
We hope PACMAN will never get an injury so that he may enjoy… his money!!! God richly bless him more….

How are you doing my friend? You are welcome for the posting and I’ve said dozens of time before that if you take the time to email me, I will respond. It’s not really right to sit back and pick and choose as others surely do. When I go to a bout, I see these guys that are obviously assigned the boxing match play solitaire on their computer until the main event arrives. They don’t care about boxing and are not doing it any favors. If you love the sport, you will support it and I do. I love watching the up and comers go in there and duke it out…and I do enjoy answering emails. Do I have time to sleep? Not really. I work 3 jobs, but I am fortunate not to be slaving away at a factory as I once did. Everything that I do is basically office work and there is down time where I can attend to the mailbags. There are times that I am up later than usual, but I would rather be up all night working on this then to not have any questions or comments. The more emails that I get, the more that I know that I am doing something right. So, do I sleep: about 5 hours a night.
I hope one day to be a big star in the Philippines…even if I’m just on a billboard with my finger pointing saying: “Stay in school” or “Don’t do drugs” or “This is what you look like if you watch too many adult films.” The saying: “”kung may tiyaga may nilaga” is so true. I believe that with ambition and belief in yourself that you can accomplish anything.

That is a great name! I am a big fan of the Sasquatch, skunk ape, yeti, man-ape, skookum, and swamp booger. I actually did my research paper on the mysterious beast in college. I remember the day when my stuffy, old, English professor walked around the class and asked everyone just what their paper was going to be on. Now, she sent out this sheet prior to suggest things for those without imagination and I can’t tell you how many picked alcoholism and teen pregnancy for topics. That’s boring. If they want alcoholism, I’ll just drag my drunken father into the classroom and have him vomit all over the place…did I get an A teach? I am sorry…that was too far. Sometimes I ramble and, I say some offensive things. Please forgive me. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah, the Sasquatch. So, I did my report on this creature and actually interviewed a moron that had claimed to see the elusive man-ape. I got an A! I was so happy, but when I initially told the professor of my report, she scoffed: “The Yeti is an a#$%hole,” she screamed. Do you actually believe that she said that? You do? Fantastic! I’ll stick with it then…
Hmm. Jorge Barrios. This guy is getting a lot of hype now. They know that MAB and EM are going to retire soon, so they will need a newbie for Pacman to destroy. In walks Mr. Barrios. I think that the guy is strong, but he is not in the same league as the Pacman. He went 12 hard rounds with Acelino Freitas, but to be honest, I was never impressed with “Popo.” What does “Popo” mean? If somebody walked up to be and said: “Let me grab your Popo,” I’d be terrified.
So, Pacman vs. Barrios would be a shootout for as long as it lasts, but I think that the timing and the power of the Filipino monster would end it quite early. Don’t be misled by the Nagy win. Barrios isn’t as great as he seemed.

Good day Geno and this is my maiden voyage to your mailbag.
I have been sailing on your stream and it does entertain me. I have been a true boxing fan since the Ali, Hagler, Leonard, Pryor, Gomez era.
I agree to many that the Pacman is one of the hottest properties of this sport nowadays. I believe he deserves to be on his throne. He started as flyweight and after knocking out opponents, went to become super flyweight champ. After seeing some unlucky souls tasting the wrath of the Pacman, he jumped to bantam, kayoed some and moved on to become the super bantamweight king. With no available worthy opponent at sight, the impatient “no fear” Pacman climbed to featherweight, didn’t aspire for tune up by instead demolished the great Barrera.
As if this wasn’t enough, the Pacman looked for the other best in the division and eventually fought the technically sound then champ Marquez to a draw.
The Pacman didn’t stop there and wanted to clear the controversy but Marquez priced himself out of bounce and begged off.
Liked a rampaging bull, the Pacman couldn’t be denied of his hunger and moved another level higher and faced the legend Morales at the featherweight, sending the future hall of famer and Mexican hero to his knees.
What is amazing is that from flyweight, the Pacman moved up five divisions higher and carry with him that same devastating punching power. He seems even gained more power and unbelievable stamina and becomes more durable at 130lbs.
In this aspect, can you comment on the Pacman’s achievement as compared to the other greats in the feather and jr. lightweights divisions?

I can honestly say that Manny Pacquiao will go down in history as the most popular fighter ever to come from the Philippines, but he is also destined for the hall of fame for precisely the reasons that you state. Look at the trail of victims he has left: Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Juan Manuel Marquez. Outside of the great Julio Cesar Chavez, MAB, EM, and JMM have been the best to come out of Mexico (De La Hoya did not come out of Mexico). For Pac to go in there and destroy two out of the three and knock the durable JMM down three times in route to a controversial draw shows the greatness of this fighter. It’s really hard to compare him to other greats. Pacman is great, but when think of a guy in the 130-140 range, I think of Pernell Whitaker, and nobody has been even close. Pacman is on the list of greats for sure, but comparing anyone to “Sweet Pea” is difficult. I couldn’t believe how he made it look so easy.

Thank you for the blessing and the props. I wish you the best as well my friend. Hmm…”Legend Killer?” Well, Marco Antonio Barrera is a legend and so too is Erik Morales. So, I guess that it fits, but too many people will probably associate with professional wrestling. I know that it’s fake and I know that it’s stupid, but at times, it’s pretty entertaining. One of the dudes goes by the name of “The Legend Killer.” It’s the same thing if I went into boxing and called myself: “Stone Cold” Geno McGahee, or Geno “the Snake” McGahee, or “The Rock” Geno McGahee. They beat these nicknames into your head for merchandising reasons and the girls wrestle around nearly naked! I’m a weak man and I don’t have the strength to change the channel. Some would argue that my hands are too busy. They are wrong though…
As much as I appreciate what Manny brings to the game, I still have to give the edge to PBF on technique and ring generalship. He is a master in that ring and has never lost. Hey, love him or hate him, is the man to beat right now and has conquered every division that he’s entered. As of now, he is the best in the game at any division…well, maybe not heavyweight. I wouldn’t want to see a chubby, 200-pound, PBF facing Wladimir Klitschko in a bout. That might be a little too much to ask our P4P champ.

Wow! I can only say one thing about this write up you have for our boxing hero and legend Manny: you Rock!!!!! =) You are right, No one ever believed Manny in his entire career. I’ve been a big fan of his ever since I saw him knock out the then light bantamweight champion from Thailand on his own soil. Manny was beaten up for 10 rounds by the hit and run champion who’s afraid of locking horns with the southpaw and was clearly on his way to a hometown unanimous decision until he made the biggest mistake of his life by showboating in the 10th round. The 19 yr. old boy only needed one left straight to the experienced champion’s nose.
The champion never got up and never attempted to ask for a rematch after the humiliating KO loss…and the rest was history. The young teenager won his first world title and he started demolishing each opponent, great champions and pretenders alike from all over the world. Your predictions are good but you forgot to mention a possible rematch with Marquez though, I think he may also have a good payday because. They can market JMM as the only Mexican champion Pacquiao has not yet defeated (but do not use the word not “beaten” though, because if you don’t call his 1st round in their 1st encounter a beating, then I fear for Pacquiao’s future opponents if he decides to truly “beat” them. But of course, with Pacquiao’s newfound skills (he’s developed his right hook and he now has a third, 4th, even 5th punch) he transformed from being a 1-2 punch fighter thanks to Morales and his defeat, I think.
Marquez knows he will not reach round 12 unless he gets back to his snooze ho-hum style again (which he is so known for)…and another possibility that a lot of people might think is pure daydream is a possible match with PBF.
He is the perfect offense that Mayweather has been waiting for all his life to finally challenge his almost flawless defense. Gatti has punching power but he is too slow, so is Corrales, but Floyd has never met anyone in the ring that has a devastating punching power that can at least match his speed. Put him in the ring with the Pacman, and you’ll have a dust filled hand speed contest that the ring statisticians will have such a hard time monitoring how many punches was thrown and how many lands… although Floyd definitely has the upper hand when it comes to style and defense, but he’ll have a hard time containing Pacman’s left hooks and body punches, not to mention his lion heart. He’ll surely keep on coming!=)
That’s the real dream fight for both fighters!!!!

I rock? SWEEEEEET! Okay…I never mentioned JMM as a future opponent in my Pacman article because I don’t see it happening. If Marquez really wanted it, it would have happened by now…when the public demand was there for it. The ship has sailed and with JMM having another loss on his record not, justified or not, the bout is less favorable from a promotion standpoint. I get this feeling and I may be wrong, but I think that JMM is choosing his health over the money that a rematch would bring. In 3 minutes, he went through 12 rounds of beating and he doesn’t want to cope with that again. I completely understand that. You have to know when to say when and I certainly don’t hold that decision against Marquez. Having money is one thing, but being healthy enough to enjoy it is another.
I have to disagree with you on matching the speed of PBF. I think that Zab Judah matched the speed and was on his way to winning until his problems with endurance and focus decided the fight. A match between PBF and Pacman would be great on paper, but I see PBF working off the blue print and staying out of harm’s way in route to a UD. I see very little chance for Manny to pull the upset. It would be different if Floyd were a stationary target. He is a defensive master with a good chin and fantastic timing. He would be a very difficult opponent for the Pacman, but from a financial standpoint: Both men are huge names in the sport and they are both two of the P4P kings. They would both make a bundle!

I’ve been down this road before, but I will travel it again because I like you. I like you as a friend. I just wanted to clear up any confusion. Anyway, I am going with the Pacman by 3rd round stoppage over a game and tough Larios. There are certain things that you cannot fix and one of them is a suspect chin. I believe that the power will eventually connect and end the fight in relative quick fashion. Larios is just not in the same league.

We’ll have to see how they do in their upcoming bouts. Pacman has to get beyond Larios and Morales before even thinking about a shot at the man in the game, and PBF has to defeat De La Hoya, which he will. There is a chance that he will throw down the challenge if he gets beyond the two bouts that he has set up, but I don’t know if Floyd will do it. If he beats De La Hoya, he might price himself out of every fight. And what about poor Antonio Margarito? When is this guy going to get a chance?

Come on!!! PBF would not be P4P no 1 if he was not great. He has it all: speed, power, and brains when inside the ring…yes, he has a difficult time to counter southpaws but he still for the reason of his fighting abilities…he is the prince of boxing right now!!!

Can do…Popo is small, a puncher, and also showcases a lion heart…but it all still in papers to be written after the fight if who is the greater boxer…

What’s up? Oh, not much. You know the way that it is. I’m just taking it day by day. I’m taking it any way that I can get it, if you know what I’m saying. Oh, I can’t complain, but then again, who’d want to listen?
I agree that Pac is the huge underdog in bouts with PBF and Chico, but he can take on the lightweight division with careful matchmaking. I’m not saying that he should take on stiffs, but there are fighters out there that can put up a good fight like Popo and are well-respected, but would seem to be custom made for the Pacman. A match with Freitas would be HUGE. They both have great followings and both present dangerous punches. The judges would probably have the night off, as these two bulls go head-to-head.
