Ambunda vows to crush Kameda?s dream

TOMOKI Kameda picked the wrong world champion to mess around with.

World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight titleholder Paulus Ambunda believes that Tomoki, the youngest of the famed fighting Kameda brothers of Japan, made a huge mistake in challenging him and will only have his dreams of becoming a world champion shattered.

?I will take him the full distance and punish him each and every round,? Ambunda said. ?His style is only good in Japan and not in the rest of the world. He is used to fighting weak people and he has never fought me before.?

Ambunda is defending his crown for the first time against Tomoki this Thursday night at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino.

The Kameda brothers are gunning to be the first three brothers to become world champions at the same time. Koki, the eldest of the Kamedas, has already started the lead with a successful title defense of his World Boxing Association (WBA) bantamweight belt last Tuesday night in Tokyo, Japan with a unanimous decision win over Filipino challenger John Mark Apolinario.

Ambunda will block the Kamedas from etching their names in the history books by beating the youngest sibling.

?I came here to defend what is mine,? said the 32-year-old former Olympian. ?On Aug.

1, I will teach you (Tomoki) a boxing lesson. I will send you into an early retirement and I will be declared the winner and still the WBO champion.?

Tomoki, 27-0 with 18 knockouts, vowed to knock out Ambunda but the Namibian standout just laughed at the thought.

?It?s not easy for a rock to be broken. You can take a hammer and try to break it. If he believes he can break me then he is dreaming,? said Ambunda, who?s also called ?The Rock.?

Ambunda, 20-0 with 10 knockouts, captured the WBO bantamweight belt from Pungluang Sor Singyu by unanimous decision. SIngyu won the belt by stopping ALA Gym star AJ ?Bazooka? Banal.

?It was an easy fight. I whipped Sor Singyu like a baby,? he said.

After fighting his whole pro career in Namibia, this fight would be Ambunda?s chance to be known worldwide and his opportunity to someday follow the road of his two ring idols ? Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
