“I’m ready for this fight. I’m going to be ready for the pressure. I’m a very serious person. I take everything very serious. Floyd can do whatever he wants; he’s not going to take me out of my game plan,” stated undefeated jr. middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, who spoke to a select group of media members at today’s press conference in New York to promote his highly-anticipated September 14 showdown with undefeated pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather. Though Canelo has yet to face any fighter with the skills of Mayweather, he’s confident that he has all the tools necessary to break the Mayweather Code.
“I’m fast and I’m strong, but the most important thing is that I’m intelligent. The smartest is going to win…it’s going to be a very difficult fight, very taxing, but I’m ready,” Canelo explained. Fortunately for him, he’ll get the added benefit of having the advise of Oscar De La Hoya, who some believe implemented the best game plan against Mayweather. “I’ve had many conversations with Oscar and he’s explained certain things to me, what Floyd doesn’t like in the ring, and all that advise works,” Canelo added.
